Radical Moderate
Trading for Kemp really worries me.
Pros:
-In 2011 he was one of baseball's best players.
-Only 29
-Despite regressing tremendously from his 2011-2012 run, he has still hit .272/.334/.414 with 14 HRs and 14 steals over the last two seasons (167 games).
-Always the possibility he returns back to his MVP form
Cons:
-Attitude and effort
-Contract
-Injuries
-Not the player he used to be and the Mariners might overpay hoping for the guy he used to be.
High risk, with possibly high reward. I used to be a fan of trading for Kemp, but I've really changed my mind on it since the risk is just way too large. The only way the trade would be worth it is if he goes back to being the player he used to be, which is unlikely. I would only trade for him if the price is right, which I don't think it would be.
If the Mariners traded for him, how I would feel about the trade would largely depend on the terms of the deal, specifically how much of Kemp's contract the Dodgers would be taking on.
