Not a rumor, but I wonder if we could pry Ryan Zimmerman away from Washington. He's turned into an absolutely awful 3B and they're tossing him in LF to keep his bat in the lineup. Seems like a perfect DH/occasional LF for us.

That I don't know, plus they're still very much contenders so I doubt they'd be selling much, but we've heard for a while now about Zim's problems at 3rd. It's definitely worth Jack Z shooting a little phone call that way.

Another name being floated out there that fits our biggest need is Alex Rios. While it may take a 3 way deal since inter-division trades are harder to pull off, the Rangers are said to be listening to offers on anyone.

He only has 3 HR so far, but he's hitting .312 with an almost .800 OPS

If we could turn Nick Franklin into Alex Rios I'd be very happy with that.

Foregone conclusion. When you can't make the outfield over the likes of Stefan Romero, Dustin Ackley, Abraham Almonte and Endy Chavez, nor sub at first base over the likes of Jesus Montero, the handwriting should be on the wall in large bolded font.

I agree with the top part, but Theo is in Chicago with Cubs so I doubt Boston would let them trade Ortiz....lol.

Allen Craig for Cards is sitting again because of their rookie and it was printed that they are looking for a SP and a 2B. Ackley to Cards for Allen works for me. Throw in a minor league SP if needed. Allen isn't a superstar, but would be better than Ackley and RH.

Interesting. I kind doubt they would shell out the dough to sign Samardzija to an extension so this would seem to be a rent a player situation. Either way havent teams learned not to trade with the A's. Kinda like trading with the Rays, they will fleece you every time.
