Not a rumor, but I wonder if we could pry Ryan Zimmerman away from Washington. He's turned into an absolutely awful 3B and they're tossing him in LF to keep his bat in the lineup. Seems like a perfect DH/occasional LF for us.
That I don't know, plus they're still very much contenders so I doubt they'd be selling much, but we've heard for a while now about Zim's problems at 3rd. It's definitely worth Jack Z shooting a little phone call that way.I doubt it, but would be nice. I would use him at 1B just to keep his head in the game. RH bat that could play 1B/3B/LF would be a great get, but do they really need anything we have?
Well, looks like Xavier Nady will not be making it to the big club in Seattle, he opted out of his contract yesterday.
The Mariners and Giants are among the teams who have talked to the White Sox about acquiring outfielder Dayan Viciedo, ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes reports. The Mariners have considered sending righty Brandon Maurer and another player to Chicago in exchange for Viciedo, while the extent of the Giants’ interest in the Cuban slugger isn’t known.
Vicideo would really be a difference maker with his OPS+ of 92 and -1.3 dWAR. Sounds like a typical Jack Z get.
If the M's are really serious about upgrading they should get on the phone with Theo Epstein and see what it would take to get David Ortiz.
I agree with the top part, but Theo is in Chicago with Cubs so I doubt Boston would let them trade Ortiz....lol.
Allen Craig for Cards is sitting again because of their rookie and it was printed that they are looking for a SP and a 2B. Ackley to Cards for Allen works for me. Throw in a minor league SP if needed. Allen isn't a superstar, but would be better than Ackley and RH.
This wouldn't be good:
18m #Cubs in serious talks with #Athletics on big trade, sources tell me and @jonmorosi. If completed, Hammel and/or Samardzija would go to A’s.
