how much did David Clarkson sign for again???
7 years at 5.25 M/year. 35 points the last 2 seasons vs. Mac at 4.65 M with 55 points last season alone.
And yes, I'm OK with all of this.
Was Mac getting first line minutes last season?
His line, with Turris and Ryan, was the best last year but Spezza's line got the best PP minutes and other first line perks.
Mac played 3rd most TOI among forwards but he was kind of a fix it guy who did a bit of everything. Just under 18 minutes per game trying to get lines going who went stale. It was kind of weird because Spezza's line was getting more of the offensive and "first line" minutes but other teams were treating the Turris line as the bigger threat for much of the season.
Sounds like a fair deal then. Of course, if he had signed a similar deal here a year earlier if he had had a season like that, people would be roasting the Leafs for it.
The Kevin Hayes "sweepstakes" seem a bit dull. Of course, the guy wants money, a chance to play, and a good team. Good luck, young buck.
every too bit douche bag from TO and MOntreal would be chirping about how cheap Melnyk is.
I don't think so. Four and half mil for a second liner is pretty tame these days. I find it hard to get my head around but that's pretty standard these days. The term might be one year too long but nothing crazy.
On the flip side if the Sens hadn't signed him every too bit douche bag from TO and MOntreal would be chirping about how cheap Melnyk is.
And if Melnyk doesn't sign Ryan?
