Devils have signed Schneider to a multi-year contract extension. No surprise.

7 years $42 million is what is what I'm seeing as well. Great fucking deal, solid, solid offseason for the Devils. Moves still need to be made, logjam in the top 9 up front.

I like Cory a lot as a goalie. He has the top save % of any goalie since 2010 BUT, he's also never started more than 45 games in an NHL season.

That's what worries me if I am a Devs fan. 6m is a relative bargain for a #1 guy but the term is a little unsettling. 7 Years for any goalie is a little crazy considering the shelf life of most.

If the team makes the playoffs and he's healthy for it that's all that matters. When he's on he's very close to cracking the top 5 for goaltenders in my unbiased (reported?) opinion. I'll assume he can handle the workload until he proves otherwise.

It's a pretty good contract considering Corey Crawford is getting 6 million per year too

That contract is almost criminal . In light of the Hawks 2 big new signings it's an absolute Albatross!

I think Crawford is overpaid, but if you put stock in that sort of thing, Crawford has also won a Stanley Cup and lost in the WCF.

I think $6M per season on a guy who hasn't proven any ability to play a full starter's workload is absurd.

The Crawford deal is rough, because I do think he's rather pedestrian in comparison to much of the league, but I still think the guy should have won the Conn Smythe in 2013. I think the deal was before that though? Can't recall. That deal could look a lot worse if the Hawks do have to ship off some good Dmen.

I think when it's all said and done a few years down the road the Hawks will be like the current Pens . That 5 year window of Cup contention wasted on a one year wonder goalie.

I don't have a ton of faith in them. Last year sure seemed like Leaf-itis and a goalie playing over his head.

I think they had the surprise factor definitely in the favo(u)r last season coupled with guys having career years. It's going to be tough to duplicate those numbers this season.

That being said, they still have a lot of great young talent, Nathan MacKinnon will get better, so will ROR and Matt Duchene - hopefully Iggy gives them some veteran presence

That Landeskog kid is pretty good as well (pix has a crush on him). Defensively, can guys like Josh Holden repeat last season's performance? I think that will have a big impact on how well the Avs do this upcoming season.
