Just remember, it isn't true until the Caps have a presser to announce it.

7 years, 40 million for niskanen. Capitals sign him. He's great, but that's a lot of moula for somebody with one "great" season.

Letang not looking so overpaid these days.

First day of free agency, and if you think I'm surprised that Boston hasn't signed anyone yet, well... You can take those beliefs and get out of here. I'm not surprised in the slightest.

You will get Dustin Penner and you will like it.

Weren't they talking about working on extensions for Kane and Toews too? Did they not get the memo that there is a salary cap?

We will revisit this in March. :thumb:

Richards in Chicago makes no sense to me. They were 1 game away from the SCF again - and would likely have won it if they had gotten there - and they decide to add an over-priced, over-the-hill guy. WTF?

Big talk around town is that the Jackets are aggressively pursuing Olli Jokinen.

I don't know if he has enough left in him to play Jackets hockey and isn't a considerable upgrade over any of the current top six. But he is Finnish and those people don't age.

Have they retired his jersey yet?

He's Dorsett, only dumber.

He may be Finnish , but that does nothing to counteract the fact that he blows as a top 2 line forward. As an avid Flames watcher i swear no single player ever has shot more pucks into the chest of the opposing goalie. Truly maddening to witness night after night

No word on Anton Volchenkov huh? I guess teams didn't have much time to negotiate with him.

great price on richards.
wonder who they will move to afford it though.

the only players without no-trade clauses over $2m are Nick Leddy and Marian Hossa
(Shaw right at $2m, but that's not enough by itself).

Okay, okay. We will trade that Sonny kid for Hossa. Don't say I never did anything for you, Chicago.
