- 2nd best CB in the draft
- Center
- Complementary RB
- a guy who may at least get Dandypants looking behind him

All needs, definitely not sexy. I'd call it a fairly average draft.

Taking into account :
A-we are not a very aggressive team in terms of trading up or down, and
B-we were not going to draft a "franchise" QB

An average draft that fills holes and upgrades positions of need is ok.

AJ McCarron is possibly the QB of the future. this means we aren't paying Dalton a shitload of money for shitting the bed in the playoffs repeatedly, which makes good business since. The bengals don't want to overpay for anything.

I am liking the Bengals draft quite a bit actually once I have a chance to sit back and look at it a little bit.

1) Best CB in the draft in my opinion in Dennard.
2) Best all around RB in the draft in Hill with tons of size at 6' 233 pounds.
3) Large DE with long wing span to knock down balls at the line of scrimmage in the shadows of Johnson.
4) Trade up to grab a center who is the strongest guy in the draft, and has some mobility in his first few steps.
5) A winning QB with some swagger, great leader, stronger arm, from a pro style offense and defense he practiced against each week.

So far, not the sexiest draft with the biggest names, but a very solid draft in my opinion. I am giving them a solid B so far based on needs and best available.

so far, I like it as well.

Now they can continue to lowball Dalton, with AJ as the logical fall back position. Indeed, very Bengalesque.

WTF?! James Wright hasn't played since 2012.... are you kidding me? This is the worst draft since 2002! Its obvious Gruden and Zimmer were calling the shots in the draft room!

this is an odd pick.

maybe he offered to play for free.
we could have brought him in as a free agent, most likely.

Why? They are just looking for measurables at this point in the draft. It isn't like they are getting starters at this point unless one works their ass off and holds that chip and excels like some guys.

They drafted Wright because of his speed and ability to play on special teams, possible be kick off and punt return specialist so we can finally get rid of that ass Tate.

they were impressed with his pro day. they must have thought someone might try to snatch him up if they didn't use their draft pick.

Not a bad draft..... Getting Dennard in the first round was a steal. I think he'll be a valuable player for a long time.

Not a huge fan of taking another back in the second round, but if he can replace the Firm, I'll be happy.

The DE from WVU seems like a nice pick....We don't need a starter at the position, but depth on the D-Line has been important for us.

The C from UNC sounds a little too much like Cook (very strong, but not agile).... I'll reserve judgment.

I loved the McCarron pick. Dalton has no leverage in negotiations unless he has a monster year and some postseason success. If nothing else, the McCarron pick makes Dalton a better player. At the worst, we have another game manager playing with a lot of talent two years from now. I see no downside.

McCarron is the elephant in the room now.

He's better than Dalton in every way except actual experience.

Dalton won year one. So can McCarron. I see no reason to hold onto Andy even for this season. Trade him for anything you can get and move on.

Dennard was a highly ranked player at a position of need. I like the pick. The only drawback I see is that he played corner in the least explosive and athletic major conference in the country. I doubt he was tested. That's nitpicking though. This pick can't be faulted.

The Bodine and Hill picks show me they're serious about transitioning into a Hue Jackson power running offense.

Not a fan of the McCarron pick. We already have a solid starter on the roster, I'd rather that they swung for the fences with a boom or bust pick at that position

LOL

Anyone thinking they won't re-sign Dalton, I have a bridge and some swamp land to sell you.

We can all talk about playoff failures and all that, but bottom line is, unless he completely falls on his face during the regular season, you can go ahead and purchase that Dalton jersey. He's going nowhere, and drafting AJ doesn't change that fact.

We'll see in a year from now.

I think if Dalton flops in the playoffs this year again, AND McCarron wow's the hell out of the coaches in the film room and on the practice field, it is possible we let Dalton go. We might even use a transition tag on Dalton to net a 1st and 3rd round pick if someone signs him away from us. If no one wants to pay that price, then we sign him at an average of the top 10 at his position, for one season, not the top 5. Saves us money, gives us another year to groom McCarron.

If he does get signed away from us, we get both great picks and start Campbell for a season if necessary.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Until then...you can bank on Andy being here.

LOL at the guys in this thread that wanted us to draft Manziel and were upset that the Browns got him.
