Fuller is the best tackler of all the DB's in the draft. After watching last season...we could use it.


I think he will be better than Nix...just a hunch.

Lots of good DT's that could fall to Bears 2nd round:
Nix, Tuitt, Hageman, Jernigan, Johnson...
How about this guy?
McCullers, Daniel DT 6'7" 352 Tennessee- THAT would be someone to take up space!! Raw and needs some work, but projected in 2-3rd round.

The more I've read about Kyle Fuller, the more I like this pick. EVERYONE knows that unless he's a VERY well know guy- most Bears fans are going to be pissed about whoever they pick. Comes with the job.
Moving on- 2nd and 3rd rounds tomorrow.
I think we really should go with a DT in the 2nd- And if Hageman or Jernigan falls that far I would be over joyed if either fell to the bears at 51. (didn't like either at #14- LOVE them at #51)
The other call has always been Dion Bucannon at Safety- and I would be happy with that too.
Thoughts?

All of these scouts and analysts are like raving about the Bears taking him. Mayock said he's by far the best CB in the draft, and CBS's big name guy (forgot his name) gave the Bears an immediate A after taking him.

Makes me feel a lot better about this pick.

Yeah… the top ranked CB in the draft to a team with arguably the worst secondary in the league last season and two CB's over 30.

How unfathomable that Emery would do such a thing.

I'm sure we'll still grab a safety in the 3rd round or so that will push Conte for the job.

Hell, Chris Harris was a sixth round pick. To think that there's not an NFL caliber safety still out there is a little silly, IMO.

I think T Brooks would be a good pick to help your S situation in 2. Him and Fuller would be a big upgrade to your secondary. Quite surprised you guys didn't go S in the first.

Wright is gone. Just have no idea who is available to replace Conte.
The top safeties are all gone. Was hoping for Buccanon in the 2nd . But he's gone.
Just think we're going to have to live w/ Conte.

Conte is going to be on the PUP list during camp. He just had some serious surgery. I doubt he starts.

There's safeties taken every year on the second and third day who end up being solid starters. At the same time, some guys drafted in the first round go onto have no career.

It's silly to take a safety as early as 14 anyway. It's the easiest position to find serviceable guys at. They're the lowest paid players on defense for a reason. There's guys floating around. Just got to hope we can find them.

Not to mention, what does Angelo's draft history have to do with Emery? Brand new GM. Let's see what he can do.

maybe false hope, but would like to see Jernigan or Hageman fall to us tonight - and the safety prospects are lookin thin. We could grab an LB and turn them into a safety - say the Van Noy kid from BYU...he's a hitter.

Our secondary was bad not because of our CBs but because of our safeties and dline. Secondly, secondary is almost insignificant without a good dline. The permeter is nothing without a solid core. And right now we have gaping holes at DT and depth at dline in general. This pick will not matter unless we address the DT first. Which is not what I want to hear for a first round pick. We should have moved up.

This is true if you are not counting our Nickelback. We may as well have been short a man, when Isiah Frey was on the field. Not one impact play in 16 games and a woeful tackler.

Fuller will be a huge upgrade at that spot IMO, and will easily slide into Tillman's spot when he's gone.
