I read the 1st two so the series is ahead of me now. I am kinda glad I didn't read ahead... last weak was a shocker.

I will read the 3rd after the season is over... but whether I go into the 4th book will be a coin flip.

The books are so much better than the TV because they develop characters and stories better, but I am afraid if I read the book I will be disappointed with the TV version... as I was a little disappointed in season 1 because they skipped so much..

Yea I agree, the books are always better than the shows/movies because of that. FYI the third book is season 3 and 4. So if you start reading and don't want to pass the show you'll need to stop in the middle. 2 major events happen right next to each other in the book. one was the red wedding and I think the next one will happen at the beginning of the 4th season.
