I don't know anything about these players...so asking for you guys to clue me in...
Was he worth giving up the #58 pick, just to move up 2 spots?

No, he would have still been available at the 20th pick.

Oh Mirco is from the WHL, not Europe. He's just European.

I have a theory on why Doug may have thought he had to leapfrog the CBJs to get Mueller.

Mueller was on the same pairing with Ryan Murray, the D stud that CBJ selected last draft. So Doug thought that CBJ would keep that pairing together as they progress to the NHL level.

Cmon, please elaborate on this guy. The "ratings" they showed on NBC had him get a score of 3/5 for IQ, Hands, and Shot. No idea how much stock to put into those ratings.

He's an outstanding skater and his defensive awarness is second to none. Very high hockey IQ, great passer with the ability to skate the puck as well. His awarness in the offensive zone is a work in progress but he has the tools to be a solid contributor in that department as well. Roman Jusi (NSH) or Jonas Brodin (MIN) are good comparibles for him.

Thanks, Cmon. A LD puck mover is definitely needed on this team with Demers/Braun holding it down from the RD spot for the next several years. Of course, we'll have to wait a couple seasons before Mirco can show us his skills in teal.

So, our first and two 2nds turned into Kennedy and micro. Ugh... Really not happy.

I put some faith into Cmon's assessment and once Cmon stated "great passer", any comparisons to Vlasic go out the window.

That's certainly possible but given who was still on the board missing out on Mueller wasn't worth giving up a 2nd for, IMO.

Klimchuk, Petan, Burakovsky, Zykov all still on the board if the Sharks can get one of them in the 2nd round I'll consider this a good draft.

If it helps at all....just imagine that the Sharks traded Clowe/Murray for Kennedy, a 2014 second round pick (actually 2 if Clowe resigns with the Rangers) while pretending they didn't gift the Red Wings a second rounder this year. :L

How long till you think he's got a shot at making the roster?

Hard to say. His defensive game is close to NHL calibre right now. He has the skillset to make the jump like Vlasic did but I think they'll give him two more years to develope.

Wilson won't pick him but Buchnevich would be a steal at 49.
