One other thought.....not sure if you can change the settings or even how you currently have it set up......

Can you have the playoffs seeded top 6 records, then the top 2 season total points of the remaining teams for the last two spots?

Most times it's going to be the same teams regardless, but sometimes you can have a very good team, but always run up against a team going off and end up with a loss even though you might have had the second best performance that week.....
