Mathieu is a playmaker, he's not an elite defensive player by any standard, but he'd be a major steal in round three.

Another FA who might be interesting is Connor Barwin. I have no idea if he's going to get starter money or not, but I would love for the Niners to get a pass-rushing specialist either in the draft or FA.

Barwin could come on the field & play DE while Soap takes a seat & Ray plays NT on passing downs.

Just thinking out loud. Richard Seymour will probably be too expensive. I hope he doesn't go back to the Patriots. The Pats probably sacrificed a SB trophy by trading him. Biggest mistake Belichick ever made.

don't know if Barwin is the specific guy, but i like the thinking. assuming they haven't seen enough of Darious Fleming and Cam Johnson, add a pass rushing specialist. don't force one, but do look.

I want Sop, RJF and Larry Grant to come back and Delanie too. Realistically I think Sop will be back, 50/50 on Grant, RJJF probably back, Goldson I think is gone.. I want him back but think hes is going to get PAID. Walker I think will also get offers too pricey to match.

Although I believe that Goldson will want to be paid, what was the last S FA contract that teams put up for massive amounts? I can't think off-hand of a contract bigger then like 4-5 yrs/30-32 mil. I don't know what team would pay Goldson as much or more then we would with a franchise tag-ish number.

Connor Barwin sounds interesting as a pass rush specialist... but i wouldn't shell out honestly if he's only coming in on 3rd(if)...

We still have Aldon and Brooks as pass rushers... unless Aldon moves to DE then.

don't know if Barwin is a good target or not, but i'd bring in a good pass rusher even with Brooks and Aldon. you'd use this guy like how Aldon was used last season, on passing downs.

you wouldn't rush all three guys all the time, but then you could mix it up.

exactly, i was implying that we already use Aldon and Brooks on passing downs(both play every down now)...

to counter, move Aldon on the line then insert pass rush specialist on the outside...

we definitely need someone to spell these guys absolutely but wouldn't shell out mucho dinero for it.

agree, this 'third guy' could also be a quality back-up.
