Mtl has all the leverage on Subban. They don't have to trade him. They can ask for the farm if they want. In other words, we have no shot. No way does Coots, G, or any Schenn go in a trade. I really wish we went dman last year instead of Laughton. I know he will be solid on the NHL level, we just need a very good dman. I'm still pissed off at Nashville for matching.

A d man 1st or 2nd(Stolarz-goalie taken with 2nd pick).I mean, this is just fucking stupid. You know damn well they'll have to give up a young forward in return for a decent defenceman from any team.

For tonight's game summary-FUCK
0/6 powerplay
26 shots on Letemin and 5 get past.
defence playing with their heads up their ass.

The Flyers played like they were hungover. Defense was horrific. Gervais, Coburn, Timmonen. Luke Schenn was good. Btw, did I miss a no call on a high stick on Schenn in the 3rd period? I thought he was bleeding as well. Flyers were already on a PP. Oh well, it is what it is.

Goats

3. Leighton for being himself(not covering the bottom of the net, not cutting down angles, not controling rebounds)
2 Lavy- for playing Leighton.
1. Homer- for re-signing Leighton. I mean come on that fucker cost a cup with his weak ass play and he was rewarded with a new contract? Fucking bullshit.

I hope Bryz plays the rest pf the games all season or the send Leighton down and bring Boosh up, at least Boosh makes the saves he should and can control/semi-control rebounds.

Not sure how far this team can go with this defense. Homer will
make something happen for sure. I'm just curious which direction he goes as far as trade? Subban won't happen. I would look into the Pens Despres? Would not cost a load, but wonder if Shero would deal with an in state riva?

Leaf land is wanting to get rid of Phanuef. Talk about buyouts etc.

I wonder what they would want for him

Isn't Phaneuf on the decline? I'd do it if the price was right. Now that Burke is gone, wonder if Homer could fleece the new GM in town?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Grabovsky's stick follow through on Pronger. I thought they called a penalty on that play on the Pronger incident?

It's an absolute bullshit"assumption" rule. You should be liable at all times for the control of your stick. If you hit someone high, even accidentally, you should be penalized.

the follow through rule is a joke, it gives guys an excuse to not control their sticks.

Phaneuf is an interesting name. I bet Nonis would want a 1st or high end prospect though. I'm concerned about the cap situation next year if we acquire Phaneuf as well since I really see the Flyers going after Perry in the off season. The other name out of TOR that interest me is Franson, the kid was really coming along in NASH but was jammed at the back of the depth chart in TOR.

Shero would want a 1st or high end prospect for Despres(he'd prob ask for Cooter honestly) and that seems to be a lot for a guy whose where he is on their depth chart.

I was hoping this wouldn't happen but it did. Special teams are killing this team. Credit to TB they were on ST.Louis was sick today. If Read gets his open net shot up they go up 2-0 and may end up winning.

Disappointed in G he was crawling back on hedmans goal he needs to set the example being captain.

call me crazy, but i'm really not that concerned with the defense.. the offense is what's scaring me.. take out the panthers game and the flyers only have a handful of goals.. their passing is freakin atrocious.. giroux and voracek are supposed to be the playmakers for the team, and at least 75% of their passes end up on the other team's stick.. i dont understand why they continue to think they can pass through people

and what's worse when you turn the puck over like that, most of the time you give the other team a fast break opportunity, which is where the defense gets hung out to dry.. when the D has the chance to get 'set up' the flyers have been fine.. it's been odd-man rushes and the PK that is allowing all these goals.. the flyers are freakin 69% on the PK and when you're taking a million penalties a game, you're not gunna be successful.

i dont understand why there is such a revolving door on the PK.. is this the biggest area the flyers miss matt carle? the PK was at least passable last season, why are we shuffling everything around? put giroux, talbot, coburn, and timonen out there together, that's a fine quartet.. and put read, couturier, grossmann, and schenn out there for the 2nd unit.. schenn in for carle, there cant be that much of a drop off.. what's mike knuble doing out there on the PK? i realize you want to try and give your scorers a rest (giroux, read, couturier), but it's not working.. they've yielded 9 PPG in 6 games.. and yet they're still middle of the road in GAA in the league (16th).. 9/18 goals have been while PK-ing, plus 2 ENG's, they've only allowed 7 even strength goals through 6 games.. that is plenty good enough from the defense and the goaltending..

they get teh PK to where it was last year (which wasn't even that good, 17th) and that's 3 less goals already and then the flyers have given up 15 goals in 6 games, which would be 11th in the league.. and that's including the abomination (5th GA) from leighton last night and 2 ENG still

^all of that plus their tendency to give up.. there's probably 2 or 3 more goals that are prevented if they dont give up too..

i was pretty intoxicated for that game last night and fell asleep on the couch watching. if leighton was as bad as it seems, i don't expect him to last long. they sent boosh down to get work, as soon as they feel comfortable they will replace leighton.

Leighton didn't help. The bigger problem as awaz mentioned, Giroux and others are being lazy, taking dumb penalties, and there is proof that these guys quit during the game. Unacceptable, especially from our captain.

ya, i'd say the goaltending was relatively even last night.. lindback gave up a horrible softy, and leighton gave up a horrible softy.. leighton probably could have stopped 1 more, but the flyers didnt even have a real solid scoring chance aside from read fluttering one on the ice into the outstreached lindback pad

the flyers forwards are just turning the puck over and half assing on the way back.. an all-star defense would struggle to contain a team as dangerous as the lightning with 0 forward support

timonen and grossmann have been turning the puck over a lot and foster is mostly a turnstyle, but aside from that i think the actual dmen have actually been pretty good

tired legs last night.

they're gunna need to get over that though.. 40% of their games this season are part of a back to back.. add in that most of those are probably 3 games in 4 nights scenarios and you're looking at more than 50% of the games.. it's gunna be a long season if that's the type of game they play when they're tired

It's more than that. It's one thing to be tired and still play hard, but it's another thing to be tired and not try and give it 100%. the Flyers just flat out gave up. Sloppy passing, falling down, lazy penalties, I could go on and on. The worst part is that the schedule isn't going to get easier. We don't have the luxury to have lengthy practices to fix our ST. This is the part that is crippling our team. ST will determine our fate this season. I guarantee it!
