Bryz was finally able to stop some one on one point blank opportunities (essentially breakaways), but then obviously let in an extremely weak goal on a shot from the point with zero traffic from a defenseman that is not at all known for his shot or scoring ability.

Overall, great game...but we probably should've scored and given up more goals, especially when you consider all of the power plays. Both goalies just somehow, someway had the answers for almost everything.

I come away from the game feeling like we were a little fortunate to get the regulation win against a pretty strong team that came after us from the drop of the puck. We will have to be better for the next three games (NYR, Pitt & Boston) if we expect to come away with regulation wins. Time is ticking away. We need to edge these teams that are ahead of us and crush those that are already behind us.

I still expect to make the playoffs without question, I just don't want to have to do it as a 7 or 8 seed. This means we have to catch and pass teams like the NYR, Devils, and one or both of the Leafs/Sens while staying ahead of everyone already below us.

Devils have come back to earth the Rags are beatable and i know we can beat the Pens. It's pretty close right now throughout anything can happen including us finishing 1st in our division.

hartnell's return has really given the team life.. it solidified the lines a little bit.. the addition of gagne seems to be helping a little too.. i was reading this morning that mesz is questionable for tomorrow too

If only coburn would return to his game we may have a shot at doing something good especially when Read gets back and we could always use a guy like Mezz

I'll admit this up front, I always seem to stick up for Coburn. I've always liked him. I think Flyers fans are way too hard on him. I think the expectations for him are too high. People want him to be 1A type dman and that's not who he is. He's a shutdown defender, who is fast and skates well but provides little offense. That is not going to change. Imo, he has a role and he fills it well. I like the D pairing of him and Grossmann a lot.

i expected him to really be a force this year.. he's been far too inconsistent for what i was expecting

i like coburn a lot, i expect a lot from him because we've seen him bring a lot to the table.. even if he 'just a shutdown dman' he can be a lot more consistent than he has been so far this season

After the raving about him that went on from the announcers in the playoffs last year i expected him to be a 1A this year. His best game is when he jumps into the play but does that rarely. In our own zone he is a mess with the puck so far this season. He loses control of the puck way to often, hasnt covered his man very well in front and sometime not at all, hasnt made good passes and right now he may be our 5th best D man. I personally like when grossman plays with Schenn they block shots and hit everything that moves but both of them have been prone to leaving the front open also. I am just looking for coburn to play much better down the stretch.

I don't think Coburn is our 5th best dman. I don't think Lavy thinks that either. He leads the team with avg time on ice per game. He also on the #1 PK unit. I think he is grossly underestimated by our fans. Lots of teams would want him. Plus, I think Coburn munches people A LOT. He, Grossmann, and Schenn do a lot. When I was at the game on Saturday he was really munching people. I asked my brother if he saw that on tv and he said no. Maybe we just don't see all of the little nuances on the tv. I don't know. With all that said, Coburn could probably be more consistent but I don't think he is terrible like many people try to say.

i just want more consistency from him.. when he's playing well, the grossmann/coburn pair is the flyers best defensive pair, and probably a top 5 shutdown pair in the league.. i also think coburn absolutely needs a good partner.. he seems to try to do too much when he doesn't trust his partner as much.. when he plays with grossmann or timonen he is a good/great player, when he plays with someone else he's OK/good

I think he is a way better player than he has shown so far. i know plus/minus is not the end all be all but you have to be better than minus 8 as a first pair defenseman. If he plays like he can our D should be fine and we wouldt have to hear stupid rumors like the J Bo to philly crap.

No Mez at practice today. People speculating that he's had a setback. Sucks.
