There's no football today, so I figured I'd go here...

2012 Free agents: I just realized that Chad Henne will be a FA. Will he get more than backup money? What would you think of bringing him in?

Although RG is a huge need I wouldn't go the FA route to fill it; this coming draft is very deep at OG IMO...

The WR class, on the other hand, is not very deep. There are 2 erally good ones IMO, a pretty good one and a bunch of big question marks. FA, on the other hand, is loaded with good WRs. Vincent & Desean Jackson, Somewhere-over-the Dwayne Bowe, Colston (Franchise tag?), Mike Wallace is a RFA, but he'll probably get a 1st round tender, so he's probably out of the question...

The '12 draft isn't loaded with pass rushers, but FA is. There's Cliff Avril (one of my Fav's), Robert Mathis, John Abraham & even Calalias Campbell if you consider him a pass rusher.

The DL in this coming draft are hard to gauge. There's the Big ole' Husky (Ta'amu?) who has a very high ceiling but not a high floor, there's Brandon Thompson from Clemson whom I've LOVED all season & plays with ferocity, there's the guy from Michigan State whose name I'm forgetting right now, Devon Still, etc etc... FA has a couple of guys I'd love to add: Corey Redding (too expensive?) and Tyler Brayton.

I'd definitely go to the draft to add a CB (except Rogers of course). I'd love to bring Rogers back, but if he wants stupid money he can be replaced in the draft.

Everything is going to hinge on what the Niners do at QB, of course. But assuming the Niners bring Alex back (and it looks like that's what is going to happen), then here's my WAY too early Non-49er FA wish list:

Desean Jackson (bring him back to the Bay area)
Tyler Brayton (or Corey Redding if he's not too expensive)
and MAAAAAAybe a pass rusher like Robert Mathis if Ahmad Brooks leaves.

Desean Jackson is a nightmare on and off the field. Harbaugh wouldn't want to bring his maturity issues into the locker room, regardless of his athletic ability.

Desean is often a nightmare for DBs too. I'm endorsing the Niners going after him because I think he's destroyed his stock. However I think it's as low as it will ever be: He's now 25. I think the worst of the immaturity problems are behind him. He's also been on a disfunctional Eagles team for his contract season. If he had good QB play this year he would have probably put up another 1000 yards. I know he's a one trick pony and a huge punk (like Crabby), but you have to know how to buy low; and I'd be interested to see what Harbs could do with a guy with his kind of agility & speed. The Niners haven't had a speed threat since TO.

Right now defenses play WAY too close to the line of scrimmage 'cause they know the WRs are slow (outside of Vernon) and the Niners' pass protection isn't very strong. They know the Niners are going to run a lot and throw short passes. Desean being on the field makes them have to back off a little.

I think Bowe will get the franchise tag & Vincent Jackson is even worse off the field than Desean (and historically great QB play has made him look better). Colson's an option too of course...

I like Wright from Baylor, but I want to see what he does at the combine.

...Anyway imagine Vernon lining up on the same field as Desean. Defenses would be a lot more confused about what's going to happen.

I really don't think I would sign any of those WRs. I dn't know how different Vincent Jackson is from Edwards. The one thing VJ has had going for him throughout his career is Phil Rivers (except this year).

Dwayne Bowe I could be talked into.

If we sign DeSean Jackson I will shoot someone. Probably Sickness.

Colston would be interesting, but he'll be really expensive, and frankly I see a very similar skill set to Crabtree, except he plays with Drew Brees.

I would be willing to go hard at Mike Wallace. If he gets a first round tender, I'm trying to sign him to a tender. I'd throw something in the 6 or 7 year 50M range at him and let Pitt decide if they want to match it.

They may let him walk for what would be a fair price with what Antonio Brown is showing, and the success they've had drafting WR in the middle rounds and getting immediate production.

Justin Blackmon
Michael Floyd
Alshon Jeffery
Ryan Broyles
Jeff Fuller
Kendall Wright
Nick Toon
Devier Posey
Greg Childs
Mohamed Sanu
Jordan White
Patrick Edwards

I would say there are going to be more than a couple of good WR's in that draft class. It's deeper than most people give it credit for IMO. At least a few of the guys after Blackmon, Floyd, and Jefferey (depending on how you feel about him) should turn into solid receivers. I really like Ryan Broyles, Jeff Fuller, and Nick Toon as possible 2nd round picks. However, if i had my way i would want us to pursue Dwayne Bowe.

Mike Wallace would be my first choice if he became an UFA. I would even consider giving up our first for him if that's what it would take.
