I feel bad for them even for a leafs farm team

tell me about it... some of those guys will be Canucks soon!
also, shitty thing is, Scrivens had a perfect game going. that was the 1-0 goal in overtime.

I don't think I've ever seen a goal that went in slowly enough that the team had a chance to tag up before the puck actually crossed the goal line (IIRC when New Jersey's EN goal was waived off, Kovalchuk was still in the zone when the puck went in). To me it seems like that goal should stand, because they tagged up, but then again I don't know what the actual offsides rule is as it pertains to that situation. A kick to the gut for sure for the Marlies, but Tokarski got the shutout so I like it. :D

Down 3-0, not that I'm surprised. Norfolk has been on a different level than the rest of the AHL this year. Bodes well for Lightning fans for the future.

‏@mirtle

This particular offside rule is so unique even the Marlies and coach Dallas Eakins didn't catch it. Eakins: "It's a real interesting one for the referees. The puck comes out, the puck's rimmed in. ..there's a guy that's offside by about eight to 10 feet, the puck hits the stanchion but now he's onside, & it goes in your net. It's a fairly grey area. Once again something I've never seen. I'm sure the referees have never seen anything like that either.

still don't know the specific rule on something like that.

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle
AHL statement: "A rules interpretation error by the on-ice officials occurred... Rule 83.4 would have negated the Norfolk goal."

James Mirtle ‏@mirtle
More from AHL: "As AHL By-Laws do not allow for any change to the final result of a game... the result of the game stands."

Baby Leafs you got fucked

anyone see that goal last night? that was unusual to say the least, lol

just to be clear, I am a Lightning fan because of the Admirals, not the other way around.

wow...

Norfolk finished the regular season on a 28-game win streak, finishes the playoffs on a 10-game win streak. 43-3 in their last 46 overall.

I guess TB has a pretty solid farm team. Maybe they should trade jerseys.

Norfolk may have swept, but wasn't as if they ran the Marlies over. We had chances to win all four games but just didn't get the breaks. That bullshit missed call in Game 3 being the biggest example. Admirals were just a team of destiny this year.

Still, have to be a little confident about the Leafs' future. When your AHL affiliate does well, it often leads to future success in the NHL (see Binghamton > Ottawa)

Provided your GM doesn't sell the farm for a draft pick or first line center.

Good stuff from the two former Spokane Chiefs. Tyler Johnson also has a Memorial Cup, World Junior Gold (with the US no less) and now a Calder Cup. Will be pretty impressive if those 2 are able to put Stanley Cups on their career achievement lists. Both of them should be playing in Tampa next season, but who knows if they actually will be.
