I'm assuming you meant 2013 instead of 2008 so here we go. Overall I think 2013 is a better team overall.

On offense

QB - 2013
RB - 2013 (Alexander may have had bigger stat seasons due to an impressive O-line, but I still have to go with Lynch here.)
FB - 2005
OL - 2005
WR - 2013

Defense

DL - 2013
LB - 2013
CB - 2013
S - 2013

Special Teams

K - Push
P - 2013
Return Team - 2013
Coverage - 2013

Yes, I did. Thank you for the correction.

I took a look at this and couldn't really decide.

The 2005 offense averaged 28 points per game and Shaun ran for some sick yardage.

That being said I think this years defense is better.

So one had a better offense, the other a better defense and the running game is about even. Yeah?

I thought I'd gather some input.

Overall yes, I'd go with the 2005 offense. My only knock was Seattle receivers dropped passes a lot on that team. That O-line was incredible in pass and run blocking though. If Lynch had that O-line I honestly believe he would have broke Alexander's numbers. The 2005 defense was (in my mind) pretty soft in between the 20's and lived off of tightening up in the red zone.

This team is better. Lynch doesn't have the same number as Alexander, but he's just as much of a factor. His impact doesn't always show through in the stat box, but he wears defenses the fuck down. Even he only has 30 yards through 3 quarters, the opposing defense is often worn out from gang tackling him all day and he seems to get stronger as the game goes on. And Wilson is not as polished as Hass was then, but if it came down to a late drive in a close game, I'm taking Wilson every time.

And obviously the defense is much better.

This is gonna be a real short topic. With the exception of a few most of the "fans" don't remember that far back (over 2 years ago) and would have to Google!

2005 had a much more potent offense but 2013 D is far better.

I'll go 2013 by a nose.

2013 is a much better team, however the 2013 Broncos are much better than the Steelers were that year too.

2013. More dominating defense and an offense that commits less turnovers. The O line was better in '05 and Hasselbeck was a lot more experienced, but RW feels a lot more clutch no matter who is around him and the YAC for Lynch just puts him in a different league than Alexander.

If you could put those two teams against each other the '13 D would eat the '05 offense for breakfast. Matt would throw at least 3 picks.

And would probably still get a personal foul for making a tackle

Are they? That Steelers beat the best Colts team Peyton ever had, that Steelers team was one year removed from being like 15-1 with pretty much the same players and that team got knocked down to the Wild Card because Big Ben missed a bunch of games.

This Hawks team is the best they have ever fielded....Strong D, strong run game, and a qb that is not mistake prone.....Best balanced team in their history IMO....

Only thing they are missing is a strong O line and a healthy top shelf WR. If they had either/both of those they would be undefeated for sure.

It seems to be unanimous that the 2013 team was the better of the two. Although I really believe it is closer than people make it out to be. The 2005 Seahawks team had the NFL's best offense and the a top 10 defense. I think that if the Seahawks 2013 team played the Seahawks 2005 team the 2013 one would win, but it would still be a great matchup.

Matt only threw 9 INTs that year and Shaun Alexander ran for almost 1900 yards and set the single season rushing touchdown record. The Seahawks 2013 team would probably struggle to stop the 2005 ground game, the Walter Jones/Steve Hutchinson left side was arguably the best in NFL history and Robbie Tobeck was no slouch at center.

It is difficult to compare the two teams, though, considering how much the NFL has changed since 2005. Nowadays teams air the ball out a ton more and mobile QBs did not have much success back then with the exception of Michael Vick, if you even want to consider that an exception.

Give the 2013 Seahawks the 2005 Seahawks offensive line and I don't think they lose a game.

The 05 Hawks were good but the offense wasn't the best in the league as the defense is this year. The 05 Hawks had a solid bend but don't break defense. The 05 OL has the only real advantage, as much as I loved Mack I don't think Robinson is that far behind him. I'd give the talent edge to the 05 WR's but it seems that this years group while not flashy makes big plays.

If Alexander had this Oline he would've retired, if Lynch had the 05 Oline he would beg to play both ways so he could hit someone.

It's funny how all of the bandwagon accusations on this board are always coming from Hawk "fans"
