I heard Lashoff will replace Dekeyser in the lineup.

really? I would have thought White would have filled in given his experience and veteran presence.

Lashoff played fairly well when he was in the lineup this year.

while I dont think Lashoff has the scoring ability of White I also think he wont turnover the puck as much.

So serious question Wings fans - how does Detroit react here? They got pushed around in game one. Came out with a fire in game two, only to (apparently) go into auto-pilot and choke away a 3 point lead finally relying on a dumb penalty and a broken play to win. The Wings haven't had a culture of clawing and scratching for years, and they had to do it to get in. They play from a position of poise and strength, not having to gut it out to stay in it. Now they are gonna have to do it stay alive.

Can they do it? Who is going to lead it? Will Babcock have an aneurysm trying to make it happen?

I believe they can do it but the injury to Dekeyser was a bad blow to those chances. Anaheim strikes me as very unimpressive for a #2 seed.

Also, Babcock will simply compensate for the aneurysm by drinking more water.

Babcock said before the playoffs that signing DeKeyser was the reason the Wings reached the playoffs for a 22nd consecutive season.

“He’s a kid, don’t get me wrong, but he’s a good player, so that’s a big blow for our team,” Babcock said. “But there are other guys that have been working hard, Lash, Colaiacovo have been working like crazy, trying to get back in the lineup. One of them will be in.”

Lashoff is the best choice in my opinion. He has more aspects of his game than the other two, and he is the only one of the 3 that won't be hesitant about getting hits on the opposition consistently.

I do think the 5 minute penalty was warranted but I don't like how long it took the refs to make the call. Neither of them called it a penalty right away, only after they saw the Lyndman was hurt did they call it a penalty

Detroit fans, please help me understand:

I know Ian White has seemingly been in Babcock's doghouse for months (the whole season?) but I don't get it... why would you play some of these young/inexperienced dudes nobody's ever heard of and continue to sit White?

He couldn't have possibly been THAT bad out there?

I thought he left his skate as contact was made...really close. I also didn't like the delay in calling the penalty...that changed the entire game

The official who was far enough away to see Apple Cakes leave his feet called it immediately. Hell, they blew the whistle before the Red Wings even had possession because it was an injury.
