That was part of the process though.

The whole idea was to swing for the fences on every pick. That is why they took players like Embiid and Noel when other teams were shying away.

They correctly identified that they needed to draft at least 1 superstar to build around. And they were going to keep taking high upside, high risk players until they found a couple franchise pillars to build around.

it worked. They just failed utterly in putting the complementary pieces around Simmons and Embiid.

They did find the right pieces though. They had their team with Redick and Butler. And that's even after Colangelo started screwing stuff up that Hinkie did. Then Elton Brand came in and fucked it all up.

LOL.

No they didn’t.

They had cap space to sign a star in free agency. They struck out every time.

Then settled for trading a bunch of assets for Tobias Harris and Jimmy Butler.

And Butler didn’t stay because their culture was crap.

Butler could have been the guy, I suppose, but he wasn’t the best fit next to Embiid and Simmons. They needed a star who could shoot.

Butler would still be there if it wasn’t for Brett Brown being a clown show. He knew any plan with him as head coach was a failed plan.

I disagree. Butler and Redick made a huge difference. That team last year was literally an unbelievable bounce away from knocking out the Raptors and I think they would have advanced to the Finals. I don't think they should have traded for Tobias Harris though. I would have rather had Landry Shamet and the two draft picks. Even with the awkward Simmons/Embiid fit, those two with Redick, Butler, Shamet those picks and fill in the rest is championship quality. So "The Process" worked. It got them a bunch of draft picks (which they turned into Simmons and Embiid) and asset flexability to put pieces around that (Redick, Butler). Colangelo/Brand just made other moves that bungled it all.

Love the game 2 desperation of the team down 1-0.

Haha that shot by Tatum. I’d call it luck but I know better.

We were pretty much here in Game 1 after the 1st Q. They need to keep 21 involved throughout now. It takes more than a big 1st Q.

Jesus. Just brutal getting torched by Tatum. If Thybulle can't gaurd him, put Korkmaz in, at least he can hit a 3.

Jayson Tatum is feeling it.

Hayward is not much of a loss imo. The Celtics with Horford instead of him would be a better team.

I would take out a second mortgage in order to bid on the right to drive Brett Brown to the airport when he gets shit canned.

The Thybulle start paying off. He's really lighting it up.

I mean he would be....if he had actually attempted a shot yet.

It’s not a move for offense. He’s there to try and handle Tatum. Try...dude is just going off.

Really glad we gave Tobias Harris all that money to puss out.

Also...apparently the Celtics have never committed a foul. They cry with every whistle.

Gordon Hayward makes 35 million a year. And the team barely misses him.

Fun first half. Philly came out with a fury.

Embiid is definitely prone to tiring. I don't know if it's because he is not in great shape, or because he's just a big guy who tires, or both. But whenever I watch Embiid play, I find myself saying... "just weather the storm, and he'll slow down." And he usually does to at least some extent.

The Hayward loss shouldn't affect Boston this series.

All my keep Embiid trade Simmons guys, are you watching? Jo is dominant. The Cs have no answer. It doesn’t matter. Embiid can’t make guys better. Simmons is the piece that can make the other pieces better. The days of the dominant 5 running the game are over. Trade Embiid for a shooter that can run next to Ben. Try and work something for Beal down in Washington.

For at least right now anyways, you are correct.

Boston is loaded at the wing... loaded. Even their 4th, 5th and 6th wing on the roster has some utility... even on the stage of the NBA playoffs. Coach Stevens can point at even a Romeo Langford and get some good, versatile defense.
