B/c a local politician might casually know you doesn't mean he's supporting your best interest. That's if the state decides to grant counties more power.

Of course not..but, he/she is accountable to a smaller and finite constituency. If he doesn't support the best interests of his local constituency, he'll have a hard time being re-elected.

Most of your problems are already solved by federal issued grants to the state. Consider negotiation leverage between federal and state govt. The Federal govt sets standards and Mandates that states have to abide by. How does the federal govt maintain any leverage to ensure states are behaving? Money! The feds threaten to withhold grants if states are following the rules. It doesnt give the state a chance to make thoughtless changes and abusing the 10th amendment.

So...they r*pe local economies by syphoning millions through Washington, and then only send some back if they play ball with them. And this is a good thing? No thanks...let us keep the money, let us govern ourselves...

So in short, Fed govt withholds power from the state to enforce their standards and mandates, then return the power through grants and aid. States can use the grants for roads, hospitals, schools, dams, social aid, etc.

How do you expect the Federal Gov't to enforce RCRA or the Food, drug, cosmetic act if all the power and money is being localized away from the Federal Gov't?

I don't...there is no bigger sham than the FDA...a federal agency filled with lobbyists from pharmaceutical corporations.

Cronyism is the bane to society, and Washington DC is the nexus of cronyism....defund it.
