Got a offer with our draft looming on the 6th. My plan was to totally strip this team down and start fresh as I took it over after last season. We have the option of keeping 0-6 players. I have two players I plan on keeping in Gio and DT. I have done calculations and it would seem prior to keepers I should be able to leapfrog the #1 pick for Watkins if I only keep 2. If I keep a 3rd I would run the risk of not picking before him from the #2 slot.

So that brings me to the offer. A team has offered me Kaep and Reed for my 7th round pick. Should I take Kaep for a 7th round pick? It would be nice not to worry about my QB position no matter what you might think of Kaep. It would be the alternative of what is going to be cut more than likely. Or just take my growing pains with a Manziel, Bridgewater or Bortles?

Well I wouldn't let the possibly of missing out on Watkins affect this decision. I'm sure you can do just as well or better with your next pick.

In a 16 teamer..Kaeps is a real nice option.. I'd do it

In fact, I would suggest to move Watkins off your board.

Yup. E.J. and the 17 years prior and likely 17 years more of useless QB's. Call me skeptical, but when Doug Flutie is the best QB your team has had in two decades, you can join me. Inclusive in that (to mention a few), were great talents like Eric Moulds, Lee Evans, Stevie Johnson who were serviceable, but nowhere close to their actual upside.

I'd definitely do it. And I really think the rookie QB you want this year is Carr - nobody's paying any attention to him, but he's the one with the qualities (decision-making, leadership, accuracy) that make for a good long-term QB. Take him late and be happy.

Decided to shoot him a counter offer without Reed in it since I have no interest in keeping a TE in a 6 keeper league. Got Kaep for a 9th round pick instead of my 7th round pick. :suds:

Yow. Nice.

Looks like he decided to roll with Foles and didn't want to keep 2 QB's like many of them do. Which worked out nicely for me. I figured I might get a counter back of a 8th round pick.

Man. I like Foles, but in a 16-team league definitely would have kept Kaeps as insurance for him.

But now if you decide to keep Kaepernick, does he slot in as your third pick?

If so, that is a heavy price to pay. I would spend all of those premium picks on young WR/RBs and hope that a couple turn into keepers. I know you may not be able to draft a decent QB, but since you are rebuilding it will be really hard to compete this year anyway.

By the way, Hyde is the premium rookie who I would target in a draft. If you are playing for the future, he could be next year's Montee Ball.

I guess my concern is that Kaeps is a decent 6th keeper, but not a very good 3rd keeper.

Yeah Kaep will end up being my 3rd round pick. I should still be in a really good spot to snatch up some rookies with my 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th round picks. The catch seems to be that the rounds will not snake until the draft starts in the 7th round.

This is the first year we have had the options to keep 0-6. It's always been you must keep 6. So i'm not sure how guys will approach the new rule. I like Kaep's upside with the way he played at the end of last season.

he is a poor passer though, running qbs always get figured out..his passing numbers are atrocious

Man, that is one skunky roster.

Who's Rogers?

And no TE/K/DST? What do you start?

:suds:

That would be Da'Rick.

We start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE, Flex, DT, DE, LB, CB, S, 3 DP, K, P

We have not drafted yet that will be done on the 1st. I own the 2nd overall pick and will be keeping Kaep, Gio and DT. Then drafting from the rookies and any desirable cuts without snake for the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th rounds. Depends on how many others keep but I should get a couple premium rookies if not more. Would like to come out of it with one of Evans, Cooks or Watkins. Then one of Sankey or Hyde have to see how things fall.
