And Hart in net! Can't forget about that!

A few ifs that they have to worry about. If these guys develop. If they make good signings/trades this summer. If they get a good coach.

But they're situated nicely to be a force. And fast.

They have guys that have shown the ability. They have the money/assets to make the moves. And they have the money/situation to entice a good coach.

Make it happen Fletch!

I think they'll do:

Provorov - 7M x 7 years
TK - 4M x 4 years
Laughton - 2M x 2 years
Sanheim - 3M x 4 years

So my total is 16M, right in the same ball park. This is the offseason that makes the difference when the Flyers are cup contenders. They make their bets here on the Provorov, TK, and Sanheim deals especially. If you lock down Provorv, Sanheim, and Ghost and they turn in to legitimate top 3 defensemen, having them at 14.5M total looks unbelievable in a year or two. Some teams are paying 10+ for just a #1 dman.

Add TK, who could be a 2nd line guy, at 4M is a good deal. Couturier, a legitimate 1C at 4.3. The Flyers are in cap heaven. Just have to get these guys to develop in to what they've shown they're capable of.
this is more of my thinking contract wise.

The goal is to have Hartman and Laughton on the 4th line. Raffl too. If they make the necessary additions to have a Hartman-Laughton-Raffl 4th line, the Flyers are going to be extremely deep and difficult to match up with offensively.

No more Weiss, Lehtera, Knight, Varone, Vandevelde, Bellmare, Leier bull shit. Hartman-Laughton-Raffl is a legit 4th line. They can bring energy, Laughton and Raffl can PK, and best off all, at 5 on 5 they're not just going to sit in the defensive zone and bleed chances. Raffl has scored 20 goals in a season. Laughton and Hartman can both be 10-15 goal guys.

And to top that off, if/when injuries happen they aren't bringing up Justin Bailey to play 6 minutes a night and moving Raffl up the lineup. They're calling up Frost, Farabee, or Ratcliffe types from the Phantoms next year who can actually play on scoring lines.
Laughton Raffl and Hartman is a solid 4th line but i wouldn't say they will be an energy line. They are a solid defensive line and more offense will be provided than the Bellmares Vanveldes and Lehteras of the world.

I'm not super worried about that TBH. The cap is going to continue to go up. I hope Patrick and Lindblom put pressure on the Flyers for their next contracts, because that means they'll have breakout seasons next year. Right now, what have they earned? 43 goals in 246 games combined between them isn't going to break the bank.

Hagg, IMO hasn't earned a 2nd contract from the Flyers, certainly not a lucrative one. He's the definition of 'fine'. Provorov, Sanheim, Myers, and Ghost have all shown more to me than he has already. Hopefully Morin can do the same. Plus a lot of the talk going in to this offseason is wanting to add another veteran D. So at most, I see Hagg as the #7 by the end of next year.

Myers, again, hasn't proven anything. He's only played 20 games. I like what I've seen and think he could be good, but he's in the same boat as Patrick/Lindblom. I hope he puts pressure on their cap, because that means he'll have had a great year next year. Ghost signed for 4.5M after averaging .6ppg in his first 140 games. Myers needs a 60pt season next year just to match what earned Ghost 4.5M. If Myers gets 60 points next year, his contract will be the furthest thing from our thoughts because the Flyers are mauling teams if their #5 dman has 60 points. We'll be busy planning a parade.

I have one wish and we all know what it is for the expansion draft.

All joking aside, I think there's a legit chance that's what happens. If the young guys continue to progress, I bet the Flyers seriously consider leaving JvR unprotected. He'll be 32, signed at 7M for 2 more seasons.

Probably safe to assume Giroux, Voracek, and Couturier will still be the top 3 forwards on the team (fingers crossed a bit that G and Jake hold up). Patrick has a good chance at #4. Frost and Farabee might be 5 and 6. It won't make sense to pay your 7th best forward 7M.

Looking at it from Seattle's perspective, if JvR continues to be a 25-30 goal guy the next couple seasons, he's probably one of the best players available in the expansion draft. 7M for 2 years is a fairly reasonable contract, especially when the cap is probably at least 90M by then.

While I agree with you I saw Frost and Farabee joining the team next year. If you add in a couple players via FA do you have room for a Laughton-Hartman-Raffl line?

I would suspect that most of the McDonald money goes to Gudas who has turned into one of our top defenseman.

Im not sure i would move on from him. I like Hagg as he is leading the league in hits for defenseman and is one of the few players on our team that shows some toughness.
IDK maybe give him one more season, I like that he hits but he is out of position a lot in coverages.
