I hate the Longo trade because it was a mistake from the start. Not so much the cost of prospects or the overall salary. It just never made any sense in my mind. At least Cueto and Melancon had an argument. I was ok with those. Not happy, but ok.
I disagreed with the direction the FO took in the offseason, but the moves they made I had little problem with.

And, with that move, Bochy is burning through a thin bench. Tomlinson was replaced by Blanco defensively. Did Bochy change his mind and does not want to come back in 2019?
After hearing Sabes on Tolbert this afternoon, I don’t expect him OR Boch back next year. Sabes made it sound like he was on his way out as well.

I was definitely ok with McCutchen. Lightning in a bottle and if not, it’s only a one year mistake. Longo is a long term mistake that never made sense from the time the ink dried on the trade.

Wow. That is a new development. Sabean finds his replacement and then walks?

He indicated he has not been asked to take part in the search, and he doesn’t know what his role is moving forward. He made a comment about his desire to be heard, and he hopes the team does right BY HIM.

If you haven’t heard the interview, I recommend you search it out.

Wow. Hope they do right by Boch and Sabes, they deserve to go out respectfully and on their terms.

It’s a weird thing, love those guys, but I hope they’re gone come 2020. Don’t know how I really feel about that yet. As gp956 would’ve said...”cognitive dissonance”.

Totally different tone than the article I posted a few days ago. That author made it sound like Sabean would be around and would have a part in finding the new GM. Gotta wonder if things changed in between the two interviews or if the author was just pulling stuff out of his butt.

I kinda think Sabes is getting a bit of a raw deal. He built the team that won 3 championships, and one of the main reasons the team has sucked so bad the last few years is because the org did right by the players who won those championships (Cain, Timmeh, Pence, Panik, Belt, Craw, Pagan... it is almost like he is getting tossed aside (assuming that is what is happening) BECAUSE he won.

The last couple years is just the “paying the toll” part of a multi-championship run.

Sabes definitely sounded kinda pissed. John and Tom were clearly gasping at a few of his comments.

At one point, Sabean said that the hitters this year were completely inept in RBI situations. Not that that is false, but for the FO to say it in those words was kinda shocking.

Man, it takes 4 singles for this team to get a run.

The way Bochy is managing tonight, coupled with what you are sharing about Sabean's interview, I've got to think that both got bad news tonight.
I agree with the sentiments shared on this thread tonight, both of them deserve to walk off on their own terms. Let them finish off 2019. Then re-do the entire org.

I'm semi-okay with this game being lost only by the fact that the Blue Jays won and the Rockies won. However, the Cardinals are pretty much dead in the water if the Dodgers win tonight. That sucks.

Pence hits the ball -25 feet. The furthest ball hit all night by the Giants.
