They were significantly better than both teams.

Sure it's not a monster sample size. But until they actually break through I'm not buying them. Even though they should make a nice run.
They weren't really significantly better than the 2012 Cardinals. Their pythag wins were only 3 games apart. And Drew Storen won't be pitching in these playoffs.

And 2014 they lost 3 one run games to the eventual champs like I said. It's not like they have cursed uniforms.

So you're not buying them until they win?

They're like the Bengals in the NFL.

So much talent. No go anywhere with it.

If you were talking regular season, I'd fully agree with you. Last year was ridiculous. What should have been hands down the best rotation in baseball just up and shit the bed. Three or four of their five starters performed significantly worse than their career norms. Crazy shit - and it wasted that of-the-chain year that Harper had.

To me, that stuff is remarkable. Losing three games in October is not. Putting a lot of stock into that is hocus pocus shit if you ask me.

7 one and done playoffs in 11 years with the same head coach. 4 straight with the same QB.

Not comparable to the Nationals who have 2 playoff losses and the 2012 team is completely different than this year's team. 4 starters on offense are the same and 1 starting pitcher. That's it.

Either way, the sample size is non-existent, uniforms aren't cursed, and past playoff performances have no bearing on future playoff performances just because it's the same team name

The playoffs are obviously a crap shoot. Look at these Giants teams. the Nats should be more successful, but they haven't. So if I'm a betting man, which i'm not, i'd have a hard time betting on them to figure it out.

The loss to the Giants in 2014 was simply inexcusable.

Exactly, the playoffs are a crap shoot.

Who is "they"? And there's nothing to figure out since the playoffs are a crap shoot.

Even Buchholz is contributing to the Red Sox' starting pitching success in the 2nd half. Sox starters have a 3.38 ERA in the 2nd half and the most IP of any rotation. They also have the most WAR.

Now, if only they had a capable bullpen.

Getting Koji back would be just HUGE.

If it at least means the end of Tazawa, I guess. I don't think he'll make a huge difference though. He was giving up a lot of home runs before hitting the DL.

Might not hurt to give Noe Ramirez another chance. Something's clicked with him at AAA. He's struck out 35 batters in his last 19.1 IP. 16.3 K/9. That's a lot, especially considering his strikeout numbers before this stretch were kinda pedestrian. Definitely merits another look IMO.

If not Ramirez, maybe Robby Scott, Chandler Shepherd or even Joe Kelly. Just not Tazawa. He's cooked.

Kelly is interesting.

yea it seems like that Tazawa is finally done from the abuse he took the last 4-5 years.

No mention of the race to get a top 3 draft pick?? The Braves have a solid lead for the top overall pick, but after that there 8 teams within 6 games of the 2nd worst record. The tank race is heating up!
