This lineup is so depleted. Can't wait until Sandoval gets back. I'm hoping he can at least hit decently, as he would be our best hitter right away. It's sad, Migel Tejada is our leading hitter of the regulars left

No fucking way...that is pretty sad. Who's left that's considered a regular then? Just Tejada and Huff?

I'd consider the regulars to be Torres, Sanchez, Huff, Sandoval, Tejada, Ross and Posey. Of all those, Huff and Tejada haven't been injured so yes.

So damn sad, and I guess Whiteside is a reg too.

Ross is hitting better than Tejada. Torres too.

Bad Sanchez with the first batter...not just a walk but a full count walk.

How many full counts do we predict for today? And does Sanchez complete the 5th inning?

What is 'small ball'? Is it basically bunting runners over? From what I understand the numbers say don't give up outs, except maybe very late in very close games?

Advancing runners with bunts, drag bunts for hits, straight steals, taking the extra base, squeeze plays, taking walks, trying to hit the ball on the ground.

I'll call 12, two every inning and he goes 6.

Those first 2 batters = the entire career of Sanchez in a nutshell. No hits, a walk, a K, a ton of pitches.

Edit: better sample size now, the DP completes the inning. Classic Chez.

The numbers are based on a particular "run environment," i.e. the average number of runs scored by the average team - which assumes the ability to string some hits together and hit an occasional homerun.

Haven't looked at whether it's advantageous for a team that regularly scores 3 runs, or less.

Broadcast crew getting on Sanchez about his walks too. I guess they have no clue that walks are part of Sanchez's pitching strategy. Not saying it's the right strategy, but that's a different conversation than what the crew is presenting.
