I didn't give a shit about the money until the Red Sox got so concerned with the luxury tax. I don't think the signing of Price has caused them to miss out on pitching that would be better than him.

You're assuming that he isn't one of the 5 best starters in the organization and therefore can be replaced by someone better, but won't because of his contract? Because that's the only way his deal has hurt their ability to win.
