I think they mentioned that Belt was nursing a sore knee (not serious, just a normal ache that occurs to everyone during the season).

There was already talk of sitting Belt today so I'm guessing the sore knee is justification for sitting a guy with 4 home runs in 4 days.

I know it was last inning, but I wasn’t at the comp when it happened...

Getting Story at home was a HUGE play. Story of the game so far (pun fully intended).

Was the ball hit to Crawford? He seems to be able to pull off plays like that all the time.

I'm surprised that Arenado's walk this inning was Holland's first of the game. He's been throwing a lot of balls.

No. Longo.

Story was on 3rd and they put an aggressive “run any anything” play on. The batter (Desmond) grounded to Longoria who threw to Hundley. Dead meat.

I was just about to talk about how Holland is pitching better than Samardzija this year and is having a good game when he has to go and give up a three run bomb to the .171 hitting 1st baseman for the Rockies. :L

Why not bring up Beede and replace one of Holland or Samardzija with him? Maybe he could pull a Stratton and throw better in the big leagues than AAA. Stratton had a 5.11 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and a 3.23 K/W rate in 15 AAA starts last year. Of course, Beede's numbers so far at AAA this year are much worse. Maybe that is too much wishful thinking.

Scene in clubhouse before the game. Brandon Belt is sitting at his locker, getting ready for the game and Bruce Bochy, the manager, walks by.
Bochy: "Hey kid, hows that knee doing?"
Belt: "Which knee?"
Bochy: "I don't care, either one."
Belt: "They feel fine, why?"
Bochy: "I thought that, with it acting up, you could use a night off."
Belt: "Honestly, I feel good. My swing is locked in and I'm looking forward to hitting another home run off this Freeland guy, he's not going to get me again ton . . . "
Bochy punches Belt's left knee hard.
Bochy: "How's it doing now?"
Belt (nursing his knee, looking at Bochy with a puzzled look): "Ow, it hurts now!"
Bochy: "Okay, I'm going to give you the night off. Take care of that knee. Hey, Jackson! How you doing kid? You ready to get us a couple of hits tonight?"

Holland threw 100 pitches through 5 innings. Why was he allowed to start the 6th inning? Blach was pulled the other night with like 70 pitches (and he was doing well too).

Edit: And Holland is still in after the Arenado double. Amazing! I really hope Gearrin isn't warming up right now.

Because the bully was taxed last night. Holland needs to eat innings, regardless.

They've got Moronta and Valdez who've not pitched in a couple of days (5 in the case of Moronta). Valdez could be producing the same 6th inning as Holland. At least, then, Holland isn't throwing a bunch more pitches.

Smith only threw 1 pitch yesterday. He is undoubtedly available as well.

But the bully threw 7 innings yesterday. Just because there are a few guys avail doesn’t mean you go to them early. Again.
