my bad
The key word was MIGHT

shoot Arch Manning might be the GOAT after it's all said and done

Yeah, he might be, although personally I'd probably wait till I can see him in the NFL a few years before I would make that type of prediction.

That would be amazing if your prediction about Arch does come true though. I really don't know much about him outside of the few times I've seen him play at Texas.

Love can turn the ball over just as much as Darnold can. Vikings probably have the home field advantage. But, I'll go Packers. Love is more proven when down to the wire over Darnold. But things change in the playoffs.

Love has settled down at mid season after he got his footing and timing back after being out a few times with injuries. He has no picks in the last 5 games and like 7 or 8 TDs and a passer rating of around 120 over the last 4 or 5 games. This is the same thing that happened last year where the first half of the season was not very good the the 2nd half was very good. We will have to see how the last 3 regular season games go but the Pack is improving each week with defense and getting the flow of the offense going sharing the passing reps with 4 people and a good running game and people back on defense. The Cooper kid playing linebacker has been nice to get back

If they can hang onto some home field in the playoffs they are not out of it. Anzelone will be back, and that is a massive win. Bills fed RBs in the middle of the field because they have no linebackers that can cover. Campbell is elite against the run, and he has made massive strides in coverage, but he went from terrible to bad. If he keeps progressing he will be so good.

Anzelone back closes their biggest weakness and allows Campbell to focus on the run where he is needed real bad right now.

Path is definitely more difficult now, but they are not out.

Quit feeling sorry for yourselves and exaggerating the losses.

Only a handful of those are actually real losses.

The reason your defense is going to suck is that Glenn sucks. Why they brought him back is so beyond me. His insistence on playing man coverage too much despite not having the talent for it was always going to cost you at some point IMO. Just like it has in the previous 3 seasons.

11 of the people on the list of defense weren't even players this season for the Lions.

The combined stats of those 11 players is something like 60 tackles .5 sack and 2 passes defensed this season. You can replace that type of prolific production by throwing a dart at NFL practice squad lists.

The big loss there is Davis, McNeil, and Hutch. McNeil and Hutch are very good and great players respectively you cant possibly replace. And Davis is one of the only guys on your defense that is good on man to man coverage which Glenn is going to call despite not having the talent to do so anyways as the season grinds on. So that loss is big. But could easily be offset by smart coaching. The Vikes have hardly played man coverage all year because we dont have the talent to do it. Flores would love to if given the opportunity.

So while the Lions have injuries.....only a couple of those injuries are actually a big deal if their coaching staff does their job.
Detroit has 16 defensive guys on IR.

If you think only a couple of them are a big deal, you don’t really pay attention.

Sorry, that’s just ignorance.

That's my thought. I had recently read somone who posted a stat (previous to the injuries that happened on Sunday) that across all 32 NFL teams, the average number of players listed on the injury report (IR, out, doubtful, and questionable) is 14.53, with a median of 14.5. The Lions lead the league in injuries with 25 players sidelined, while Chicago and Denver have the fewest at just 6.

For players specifically on IR, the league average is 8.9, with a median of 9. Detroit again tops the list with 15 players on IR, while Denver and Green Bay have the fewest at 4 each.

According to these stats, this means the Lions are approximately 75% more injured than the league average and have 70% more players on IR than the typical team.

Lions play a very physical style of football, some of the sports radio talking heads I listen to wonder if that plays a part with playing on artificial turf.

2010 Packers that won Super Bowl as wild card had 16 players with season ending injuries... many lost by midseason. Of the 16, at least five were prominent starters, but none being All-Pro such as Hutch for Lions. Several others had their roles in packages and such, but more easily replaced.

Lions are in the playoffs... unsure status of all the injuries, if getting back any of the players could be a small boast. Backups getting experience now and then starters returning for playoffs.

I do think Lions will need to hold off Vikings for any hope getting to Super Bowl, unsure they can do it as wildcard and winning 3 road games.

I just don't see how they can overcome losing so many people on the defensive side of the ball. Monty was probably the straw that broke my camels back for me. He was such a workhorse for this offense. Don't get me wrong, the offense will still be really good, but Monty was a key player in it, and I think we will lose some offensive punch.

When you don't have any defensive punch, and you start to lose a little on the offensive side, I think we are too late in the year to really recover and make an SB run. Even if they were a #1 seed, I wouldn't bet on the Lions at this point.
If the Lions get the #1 seed, that means they likely win out. If they win out, it likely means that they're overcoming roster obstacles.

I’m hoping they can still hold on, but I’m not betting on it.

It’s amazing that they are 12-2 and haven’t even locked up the division. :gaah:

It's hard to contend, especialy every year, due to injuries and the effects of sustained pressure from having a target on your back as the team others try their hardest to beat each week. That's what makes a run like Kansas City's so incredible.

Look at the Niners this year for a good example of what eventually happens to most teams--injuries and egos start to tear the winning nucleus apart.

Welcome to the show, Detroit. Becoming good is only half the game. Let's see how you handle it.

For San Fran it was more injuries that derailed their season.
I'd say Eagles have more egos than SF and on top of that Philly has an idiot of a HC yet they're still winning games and contenders for a SB

It's hard for the Philly divas to act up too much given that the team has won 10 straight, but a few losses and that would all come back IMO.

Fortunately the Lions still have SF this season. Hopefully they are phoning in the rest of the season.

Chicago worries me a little more, because of how they lost to the Lions last time they played them. They may have a chip on their shoulder at home today.

What does Dan Campbell bring to the table? I have always thought the best situation for a football team during the season is to have the OC calling offensive plays, the DC calling defensive plays, and the HC managing the game and communicating with the coordinators and players. However, as that team succeeds and the coordinators get plucked by other teams in the off-season, the success could start to dwindle as lower quality, less experienced coordinators step into the roles. BJ looks like a gifted play caller as does Aaron Glenn. Do you think it would make sense long term for the lions to axe Campbell in favor of BJ and bring in a different OC? They might even give Campbell a job in the front office or something. This would give them another year of continuity behind a successful OC and they would have a realistic chance of retaining Aaron Glenn too.

On the surface, it doesn’t seem right to get rid of Campbell, but it might be the right move they regret not making in the future because of the success the team has had this past year. However, he might bring something different to the table that I am not seeing.

One advantage for Campbell, despite the likelihood of losing some coaches, is that the Lions' roster is loaded with talent, making them an attractive destination for top coaching candidates.

There likely won’t be a better OC job available next year.

That is true. I think Elliot Page could rush for 1200 yards behind that oline.
