A rebuttal to that is, do you think Pete Rose was the same? Pete Rose was an American and slower version of an offensive Ichiro.

The 2nd part is why I hate analytics. An infield hit isn’t sexy at all, but you can’t score a run if you strikeout, popout or groundout. Personally I think an Ichiro slap infield single is more entertaining than a Vogelbach hit into the gap that turns out to be a single instead of a double by your average accountant.

No cause Pete was out of the infield hitter, I mean he was Charlie Hustle but he wasn't blazing fast.
And I know Im gonna get beat up for what I said I just don't find it sexy....

IMO Pete Rose was just a white version of Ichiro. Pete Rose wasn’t great at any aspect of hitting except collecting infield hits and Texas leaguers, not much different than Ichiro IMO. Just my opinion but I can’t see how someone thinks Pete Rose deserves X,Y or Z but can fault Ichiro when I just think Ichiro was superior in collecting hits in 2 leagues as opposed to Pete Rose.

I will definitely concede Charlie Hustle because Ichiro only hustled after 2001 when it benefited him and not the team. He only switched to CF (maybe it’s an organizational issue and coincidental) when Adam Jones was becoming a star in the minors and stifled him by switching him from CF to COF where he embarrassed himself after forcing Choo into a CF in which he embarrassed himself.

Somehow, someway, I thought Kikuchi is no longer with the M's. But he's actually on his 2nd year of the 4 year contract.
Being an M's fan really feels like an eternity sometimes.

For some reason I'm glad baseball is back.

Looking forward to seeing the young guys in spring. Hopefully we see some positives from the young guys. It would be nice to at least have some optimism for the future.

The young guys are looking pretty decent. Maybe there is hope sometime for this organization...not gonna hold my breath though. White blew his first play at 1B but then had a couple awesome plays. The guy is gonna be great @ 1B. Looking forward to the next televised game next Saturday.

JRod is still very young and needs to stop swinging for the fences, once he get's it he's going to be fun to watch

Ya I thought he was trying to hit it out to the street which is physically impossible but he wanted to.

He showed a little inexperience, got fooled by breaking stuff and was trying to do too much. That said I think you are right once he figures it out he should be fun to watch. Also its early spring and early in his career. I'll be keeping an eye on him this season for sure.

Oh yeah a lot of the younger guys had that first day jitters, (even if it was a spring training game)

Don't get me wrong I love the kids attitude, he is one that they will pay out a big contract and he plays here for a very long time. But he is 19, and has a lot of growing up to do. I didn't like his comments to the ump on his first plate appearance, struck out looking, you missed on your guess so walk your butt back to the dugout and watch the tape. Don't bitch and moan to the ump cause you were sitting dead read fastball and the guy came at you with a breaking ball.

I caught that as well. At 19 be seen not heard. Still love the potential.

Yeah someone needs to take him under their wing, they have Ich, Guti and Cam down there working with these younger OF's everyday but it might be the guy due in the first of March, Junior that can put some words of wisdom into this young guys head.
