Just the opposite. QB's are protected more than ever, and given that passing is easier than ever before, the ball is coming out faster than ever.

Even given the style of play, etc, only 16(50%) of starting QBs played in all 16 games last year. Of course a few of those were because of losing their job.

I think Marino would be the likely choice for most people. His 1984 season stats could net him an MVP in todays game. Hell I remember some during the '86 season saying he wasn't really playing up to his norm.....4700 yds and 44 TD's not good enough?

He'd wreck this league.

Had this question asked last night at a family dinner:

If you could bring back one NFL QB and put him in todays NFL offense who would it be?

Let’s say nobody after 1998!
That should eliminate you millennials from playing...

And go
Steve Young.

One that I never got a chance to watch but probably would have enjoyed watching would be Bart Starr.

Bigger, stronger guys than him get hurt every year. JMO. He was a play extender and those guys get hammered a lot, quick whistle or not.
Montana played against the Bears and Giants defenses. Pretty sure he could handle the current Rams, Patriots or Eagles. Montana hands down with todays rules.

My obvious 1st pick would be Marino. Not sure anyone would get a chance at breaking a positive QB record if he played today.

The fan in me would love to see Staubach play with todays rules. his career was cut short because of concussions. I could only imagine what he would have done with todays Brady/rodgers rules.

Yeah, Montana would be great in todays game too. He was a tough SOB.
I think I would go with Marino though.

Alright so we pulled stats the night this little talk was going on since Marino's name came up and we went back to 84 stats,

Marino threw 48 TD's that season, 2nd place was Dave Krieg with 32........

Krieg would have been interesting to see play today, with his small hands...

I was thinking Montana also, but then I looked ta his stats. He played 16 games just twice in his career. Kind of brittle. He'd get killed in today's game.

IDK about that....the DL/QB pressure was better in his era. Plus there were fewer restrictions on how the QB could be hit...above the neck and knee or lower were legal hits.

Today's game is like two hand touch compared to the 70's/80's.......
