Damn. Hate to see this. I've known David for many years starting back when he was Governor, then Senator and then OU President. Nobody I know ever had a problem with him and even when we politely disagreed on something he was cordial and ready to discuss the issue in a calm, professional manner. I know a lot of things he did behind the scenes to help people that were never made public. Yeah, we didn't see eye-to-eye on some things recently because he's a helluva lot more liberal than I am. But the accusations against him were serious and it's my bet the truth is somewhere in between. Don't kid yourselves; he did a LOT for OU. God only knows what we're going to get for a President with all the SJW bullshit in academia nowadays.

Yes. He was the hatchet man.

Years ago I had a long private conversation with George Tenet, former Director of the CIA, in Dale Hall when Tenet was visiting OU as a guest of David Boren. George had served on the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence and David was instrumental in getting Tenet appointed as the Director of Central Intelligence. Tenet told me that Boren was THE most responsible member of the U.S. Senate they had to deal with on budget matters (including the dark budget) and intelligence matters. Guys like Tenet don't hand out compliments on a whim and he came back to Norman frequently over the years to visit. Tenet was just one person of many I have known over the years to sing the praises of Boren. I do find it curious that people who claim to be so broad minded about damn near anything that happens in this world are suddenly so judgmental about Boren. Whether or not the accusations are partly, wholly or not true at all, stripping him of everything associated at OU shows me the Regents are the type of people who will turn around and do a dip shit hire for the next President. Frankly, I have very little faith OU's going to be better off with the next person they hire.
