I am not sure I rememeber a carousel scene in Anansi Boys...but I remember it in American Gods

I also remember a car being driven out on the middle of a frozen lake and Shadow eating a lot of meat pies...I probably should reread American Gods because a lot of it is still fuzzy to me.
it's been quite a while since I read AG..I don't remember a carousel. not saying there wasn't one but I don't remember it.

and as for the car in the lake....

is that where the town did this every year as some sort of pool and turns out there was a girl in the trunk as a sacrifice?

Admittedly it took me a while to check it out but it was pretty good. I'd definitely recommend for those that don't mind a little out of the box stuff

I binged this a week ago. It is a little out of the box. Not the acid trip of Legion. AG is good. AG also gave new meaning to entering a woman.

Ian McShane is fucking awesome.

Maybe they should have called it "Liberal Gods"

You can have a great show and never drag out the point of it all.

Arguably the greatest show ever "LOST" proved you can do this. But lost was so good at entertaining you with great subplots that you never really cared about the big picture.

This show is doing a decent job of doing this ..but not by much.
And this show is not entertaining me enough to put up with all the liberal ideology that infects most of this show.

And c'mon dude. The whole fucking POINT of the movie is the conflict between the 'old' and the 'new' Gods of America. The new Gods ain't exactly the protagonists of the story.

I didn't like the show as much as the book. I watched 3-4 episodes and quit the series.

Jesus wept.

Well the point flew over yours, and that reviewer's heads, about 5 miles over your heads.
I agree

the dude totally misses the point of the show

I feel like they are pretty on script with the book

people worship guns and technology and yada yada yada these days

those who say they worship one god don't actually get what that god is all about (the Jesus and the immigrants scene)...and literally kill Jesus.

it is supposed to be nail on the head...but somehow this guy misses it.

The book and show is steeped in violence. Blood galore. Wednesday is a literal god of war.

I'm missing the kumbaya hand holding drum circle parts.

I think this dude just feels like the things he likes is being attacked...which is kind of the point.

Gaiman was making a point with the book and the show is staying true to it.

The writer of the article and whoever the poster was must feel like they are the ones Gaiman is pointing at

The book is pretty nuanced though. I think you'd find Gaiman saying he has a love/hate relationship with America at the very least. Not to mention the love/hate relationship we ALL have with things like the media.

There must be quite a few folks that like this show but I'm not one of them.
I'm glad you keep coming in here to tell us this. It really matters.
