I’ve come to my senses.

I believe it’s best for the future of Nebraska Basketball to retain Tim Miles and his incoming recruits.

I’ve went back and forth on it, and in fact I decided to say it in this thread to show that I have went from one extreme to the other.

It is a fact. It is our best option. We are the doormat of college basketball, and we are not going to fire Miles and run off and hire some big name. It won’t happen. It can’t happen.

Tim Miles' offense is insanely moronic. And He has shown no sign of learning from it's shortcomings. Too bad, he can coach some D. But then again if the offense isn't working players will subconsciously slack off on D.

The only way he can be successful is an overhaul on his offensive philosophy or recruiting guys who can both shoot contested 3s consistently and play D. I have no faith that either will happen.

When people were debating the fate of Mike Riley, the argument to retain him was that we would risk losing all of his recruits if he were fired. However the argument was made, which I agree with, is that you don't hold the long-term success of a program hostage because of a group of 17 or 18 year old recruits.

I say if this is true for football then it should be true for basketball as well. See ya, Miles.

There was never an argument to retain Mike Riley. That man literally showed zero signs of life as the head man of one of the most historic programs in all of college football. He and his friend who brought him here were dead in the water from the word “go.” Tim Miles would have probably won more football games as coach than Mike Riley did.

Nebraska Basketball, on the other hand, is the laughing stock of College Basketball. If Tim Miles was out here going 10-20 every season, I would start thinking about comparing the two, but it’s not even close. We have never been good, and very well might never be good....but he has given a shitty shitty program reasons to at least have hope since he’s been here.

I feel like firing Tim and hiring another up and comer is going to be a move to please the fanbase temporarily and simply give us something to get excited for in the offseason. I think recruiting to this Basketball program is always going to be the ultimate issue, and being located in Nebraska where studs don’t exactly grow on trees doesn’t help that.

The next guy we hire will have so much hype, and 3 years from now people will begin to grow restless as the inevitable fate of Nebraska Basketball begins to show its ugly face again. It’s a never-ending thing, and as a lifelong Nebraska Basketball fan myself, I’ve learned to accept it. I believe if you give Miles more time he’ll eventually get us to the tournament and win, but when you’re historically a shitty program you can’t just keep firing and hiring and ultimately putting a new bandaid over and old one.

Let him keep going, I say. He’ll crack it eventually. Or at least let somebody keep going. Give someone 10 years for fuck’s sake. Football is our baby anyways. It’s Nebraska fucking Basketball we’re talking about here, people!!!

There is like a 98% chance Miles gets fired btw.

One of our top donors took to Tweeter to basically say Tim goes or his money goes.

That makes the decision for Moos even easier. I just still think it’s the wrong move. We’ll be right back in the same boat, except further behind.

Next guy better get 10 years to succeed at least. I want to see a tournament win before I die.

What’s Miles done to deserve more time? 2 winning seasons in 6 (not counting this year yet), 0 post season wins. He has never been able to recruit a decent big man, we have zero depth because he can’t recruit any. This team has gotten progressively worse and just play so stupid especially on offense.

Miles in all likelihood will have a losing record after 7 years. Now to me Miles raised the bar as far as expectations go but fell way short of those expectations.

Honestly is there sone sort of rule the Nebraska can't get a big man from the US of A.

I am kinda sorta in agreement with J if Nebraska does not have a big time sure thing head coach, be it Petino, Musselman, Matta whomever. We should keep Miles. Now the problem with going after a big time coach is that the national perception of what our program is according to 93.7 said that it is not hard to find 50+ programs that are ahead of Nebraska as far as destinations for head coaches. So either open up the check book and pay a sure thing Coach the money it takes to win or don't and keep Miles and expect more of the same

Nebraska is in real jeopardy of not even qualifying for the NIT. That alone should get a coach fired. IMO the MINIMUM expectation for Nebrasketball should be to make the NIT every year and an NCAA birth once every 3 years or so.

No excuse for not even qualifying for the NIT.
