He was playing some great basketball but so are a handful of other guys.

Harden is putting up historic numbers and completely turned the Rockets record around.
Steph is shooting ridiculous right now.
Giannis and Kawhi are leading their teams to the top of the East.
AD is playing ridiculous but his teams record just isn't good enough.

Is the Trae-Huerter combo the next Steph-Klay combo? It very well could be. Both are capable of being great shooters. Trae plays the style Steph does and he has some really good vision. Huerter is a lanky, shooter that is capable of being a very good defender.

Agree. They're doing okay considering they are without both him and Rondo, plus missed Kuzma for a couple of games as well.

They are 4-7 over the stretch without Lebron, which is probably where they should be. They took a couple of bad losses to the Knicks and Cavs. But they also were able to "right the ship" when the Warriors came back on them after Lebron got hurt during the Christmas game to get that win and they beat a solid Kings team.

Yeah, if the Lakers recover and finish with at least the 4 seed, Lebron will have a very strong case, but I doubt he wins it.

If they don't get to at least a 4 seed, he's definitely not winning it. He'll still be in the discussion, he always is, but he won't win it.

The Farewell tour and Mcgruder, Richardson's play gets in the way of that.

He certainly isn't getting Winslow's minutes.

But, they need to thin the herd.

Matching that Tyler Johnson offer sheet was a huge miscalculation.

As i said on the Heat board, he must take Mcgruder spot then McGruder and Jones Jr could fight about who gets the final spot in the rotation. Waiters literally does everything better than McGruder except shoot the spot up 3. Really no reason at all for McGruder to play ahead of him. Spo is fucking this up as always

But, you would know better than I.

Is Tyler getting minutes?

Hard to dangle guys in trades if they have a large salary and no playing time.

He was never day to day.

They knew he was going to be out at least 3 weeks.

Maybe they were just being coy.

But, they don't want his 1st couple of games back to end in slaughters.

Some folks expect him to be their savior.

He still needs the rest of those guys to continue to play well or they are looking at a 5-8 seed.

He was but his offense has been MIA for a while now. They're all playing including TJ but Waiters is by far playing the fewest. No shocker that he is pissed considering he was a starter most of his career. Since he came back he only played 20+ minutes 2x. In all the other games he played under that and had 2 DNP-CD

Which means they'll probably win or at least keep both games very close.

Seems like there are more teams beating teams they shouldn't this year than usual.

Heck, the Suns have 11 wins and 4 of them are over the Nuggets, Celtics, Bucks and Spurs.

That's why it's such a tricky injury. As @Mecca pointed out, the Lakers were likely being coy with the "day to day" stuff. Heck, it probably felt like he could have gone back into the game the day it happened.

But one step the wrong way...or make a cut and he could be right back out for another 2-3 weeks or longer.

Better to keep him out longer now, if for no other reason than to rest him, than to risk not having him when playoff seeding really gets serious.

That's what Travis Schlenk hopes. And truthfully it better work out for him because he traded back to get Trae, when he could have had Luka. That might be a move that haunts him.
