I might get picked apart here but I an okay with that.

1. QB lets face it without a decent QB no team will have any sustainable success.
2. Center: ( Here it goes ) The center is the tip of the spear his responsibilities far outweigh any other position on the O-Line, calls out blitzes, changes blocking schemes etc.
3. LT assuming your QB is not a southpaw his job is to secure the QBs back.
4. DE The ability to get consistent pressure on a QB is critical the overall success of the defense.
5. CB being able to shutdown the opposing teams go to weapon is critical.
6. Safety the safety is the last line of defense also has the responsibility of help over the top, really needs how to read QBs and WRs.
7. RB any strong running game will set up the passing game.
8. DT pressure up the middle the ability to keep the QB moving.
9. LB Corps just going to group them as a whole
10. WRs /TEs if you have a great QB he will make your WRs and TEs great.

MLB does the same exact thing for the D but you have them tanked low. This is ridiculous. I come on here for sports talk and people think Center is right behind QB. Again... if Center was so monumentally important to winning they'd be going #1 in the draft all the time. But nope, no team ever ever ever has drafted one in the top 10. If it was soooo frigging important teams would be fighting for them. They'd get 100,000,000 contracts like QBS and LT. Freaking Center. Do you 3 even watch football

We'll just have to agree to disagree on this topic.

Sure. No problem. But in this journey we call LIFE.... if you ever happen to stumble across someone who knows football and ask them positional value we will finally agree.

So get this. You just got hired as GM for a new expansion team and you get your choice of any player from any team in the NFL (besides QB). Everyone is asking you who is it going to be?? ESPN has mock polls out following you around with reporters trying to figure out who you'll steal. ESPN thinks Julio Jones. New York Times thinks its going to be Ezeekial Elliot. The rest of the country is thinking JJ Watt, or Vaughn Miller or Kahli Mack. But you stumble up to the table and pass on Odell Beckham, Richard Sherman, Aaron Donald and all the others and jump up and down and scream, "We are taking friggin Alex Mack!!!!!!"

Unfortunately since neither one of us personally knows a GM or will ever cross paths with one, we'll leave this as two people with different opinions.

We can agree to disagree... but just watch the draft. The GM's will speak for me there, as they have been for the last 50 years by not drafting Centers early first round.

I think you guys could meet in the middle pretty easily. To me C is a position that isn't going to be valued as highly as other positions are, but it's VERY fair to say that you have to have at least an adequate one or you're fucked.

Goalies in hockey are certainly drafted higher than Centers in football, but they're kind of like that too. You can win a Stanley Cup with an adequate goalie (hello Chicago), but you'd better at least have a decent one, or you're headed nowhere fast.

And once again we'll agree to disagree on value of the C.

I doubt you come here for sports talk it feels more like you come here to play the role of internet toughguy. And yeah I watch a lot of football and I really don't care how irrational you act. No sense in having a franchise QB if you can't protect him. Have a lovely day

Athlon Sports is my 2nd magazine. They list their top 100 prospects. Not one Center though. I wonder why?

again RB dont go high anymore, are they not valuable? what about safeties? you think draft position =value. perhaps it just means its easier to find a player at that position later in the draft, or that theres position flexibility, your IQ must be sub 100

There have been 14 centers drafted in the top 10 in NFL history.
