Not ignorant just smart. There is a big difference from 50mg and 90mg. I think his asking price is way too high for his talent. A lot of other people do as well. So we are ignorant for thinking so? If he signed a deal like shark said in the 50-60 range then yes that is a fair deal for his talent a yes I would want him back. Even if I do like him as a Qb why do I have to pay top dollar? Doesn't make sense to me. matter for fact is what just said on NFL network last night that KC hasn't proved anything to warrant the contract that he expects to get. I think it was Garfollo from NFL network.

Kyle S. are you serious? This guy is undefendable right now. Not one play one serious. Try the whole frigin 4th qtr. The guy blew the Super Bowl. He should be judged very harshly.

SO the defense giving up a 25 point lead had NOTHING to do with it?? Fact, the Falcons went into the 4th quarter leading 28-6. SO you mean to tell me that a 22 point lead in the 4th and the OC single handedly lost them the Superbowl??

You are on crack to blame the dfense. They were on the field practically all game. Worst 4th qtr play calling I have seen in my life. Nevermind the frigin Super bowl.

Did it ever occur to you the defense was on the field the entire game because they failed to do their job?? Sorry dude, when you blow a 25 point lead.... its not on the OC or the QB.

INSANE! INSANE! To defend Kyle in that game. You are nuts. just drop this subject. You have no idea about in game play calling and how to protect a lead.

Dean. Listen carefully because you sometimes don't. I am not defending Kyle for his play calling in the 2nd half of the SB. It was questionable, at best. But I also am not going to define his entire career for a couple of bad calls in a big game. Just like I'm not going to bury KC for a bad play in a critical game against the Giants. I'm not defending the bad play. It was a mistake that should have never happened. But I also saw multiple more good plays last season from KC than bad. And that trend is going in the right direction. It would be foolish to not see where he ends up. And even if he tops out where he is, which I don't expect he will, he is miles better than anything else we can get to replace him. Right now, he is a top 10-15 QB in this league. After 2 years as a starter. Good luck replicating that.

Do you understand the nuance of my position or its it over your ability to comprehend?

I not talking to you about the Super Bowl. You already admitted to me that we are on the same page with the possible trade.

Dean,

Good thing that you don't run a team. You probably would have leaned towards dumping Gibbs in his first 5 games when the Skins went 0-5 & looked bad. He went 8-3 for the remainder of that season & the rest is history. It shows that you can't base everything on a handful of games & people make mistakes (yes - even in playoff deciding games & the SB). The key is how they recover from those mistakes.

You have no idea how Shanahan will fare moving forward (same w/ Cousins). For all we know he uses the SB as motivation & proceeds to turn the 49ers around over the next 2-3 years. Stranger things have happened.

Dean would have advocated the dumping of Thiesmann for the INT pic six he threw in the SB against the Raiders. I mean how could anyone make such a dumb play?

Apparently it is you that hasn't any idea. I am actually agreeing with you about "that Super Bowl". Just not how it defines Kyle's career. Or anyone else that has made a similar mistake.

For what its worth...

ESPN's Jason Reid reports "former Redskins officials who know Kirk Cousins" have said free agent Cousins doesn't want to be in Washington and would prefer to be franchise-tagged rather than sign a long-term deal.
The sides have made what sounds like zero progress on a long-term deal, and Cousins may simply be fed up with the way GM Scot McCloughan and Co. has handled negotiations over the past two offseasons. The front office clearly didn't believe in Cousins last year at this time, making him prove himself again on a one-year deal, and Cousins answered the bell with a big year. It's fair to wonder if the "former Redskins officials" Reid is referring to is someone(s) from the old Shanahan regime, as then-OC Kyle Shanahan literally "stood on a table" for Cousins when they drafted him. Shanahan, now the head coach in San Francisco, doesn't have a quarterback and remains enamored with Cousins, who has made it known he feels the same way toward Shanahan. If Cousins is able to force his way out of D.C. this year or next, a reunion in Santa Clara would be a good bet. Feb 17 - 11:49 AM

Yeah, pretty much but through this process I have even wondered whether or not Cousins truly wants to be in DC. I'm sure he likes Gruden (his biggest supporter) & McVay but I think that's where Kirk's ties end. He wants to be with Kyle imo. We shall see...

IF that were the case, one statement could force a trade.

I will not sign the tender or a long term deal with the Redskins.

The Niners have already been reported that they would go after Cousins if available. Kirk could force a trade, and much like Champ Bailey forced his way out of DC for less than two first rounders, Kirk could end this easy.

Which unfortunately I think this situation is headed.

Which is why I think this goes one of three ways.

1. The Redskins pay Kirk what he wants or damn close to it.
2. Kirk plays on the Tag and walks next year in which case the Skins get nothing and are likely forced to draft a QB no later than round two.

3. The Skins tag Kirk, he doesnt sign the tender... and the Skins put out an add saying one QB slightly used $70-90M guaranteed plus two first rounders (or best offer on draft pick compensation)

We might get the Number two pick and something else from the Niners, but its going to cost us Kirk and the #17 pick.

KC will sign the tender and pocket 44 mil for the 2 years worth of tag

If Kirk does sign the tag, he gives DC the opening that they need to finish a trade. By signing the tag there is always the extended possibility that SM/ Bruce signs him to a LTD. This is the unknown factor when there are negotiations going on with a trading partner.

If Kirk, as I have always maintained since reports of a 16m top offer for him, wants out, then the best thing for us, is to move on. The fun part will be watching many followers here finally join the Sty train and realize that there are already better options available for us. If we ever play whatever team he goes to, it going to be a laugh a minute reading posts declaring Kirk as "not all that" leading a "team that we can beat" and such. I'm not going anywhere right now, but I can not wait to see ya in the future fellas.
