Kirk Cousins Stats | Pro-Football-Reference.com

Ummm..... that's not even close.
look at his 1 playoff start, exactly what did he do wrong ? he was sacked 6 times and still managed a 91.7 qbr

63% completion 1TD no INTS 329 yds looks like stats that could have won a game

Well, some would say he didn't win the game. A franchise QB should be able to overcome those setbacks, kinda like Rothlesberger and Rogers did this in the games last week. Oh, wait....

And, no, I'm not comparing KC to either of those guys. I'm just using them as an example as to even the best can't overcome dire deficiencies in other parts of the team..

And you have to have common sense. A few (very few) think that what KC has done is something that a multitude of QBs could do in this system with his weapons. That is pure crap speculation. KC has had a very talented group of receivers. But he still had to make the right reads and make the throws. Consistently. Accurately. And his record setting performances came in his first 2 years as a starter. There are just a handful of QBs in the league that can claim that. Is he perfect or elite? No. he has flaws. But to opine that we could get a Hoyer or Fitzpatrick, or a rookie (or worse) to do the same is ludicrous. Give me a record setting QB that has all the physical tools and is willing to work hard to overcome his other issues any day over a top rated rookie that has never taken a snap in an NFL game. I'll have the better QB 9 out of 10 times.

Do you all really think Kirk is better than Stafford and on the Ryan/Brees level? Holy God.

You obviously didn't read all the posts in entirety. Most used the term potential.

I still think that's insane. Kirk isn't in the same stratosphere as those guys.

So have you taken a look at what those 3 guys did in their first few years as starter and compared it to what Cousins did?

Real tape study.
Really. So you have studied Brees tape from his time in SD and concluded based on that performance that he was one day going to be the star he is now? Well then, you are a savant. Because he got run out of SD because he coughed up the ball at an alarming rate. Its amazing that the Bengals haven't hired you as GM as lord knows they need a good talent evaluator that can see past piss poor play.

He didn't get "run" out of SD. He didn't resign there after a shoulder injury. SD took Rivers instead.

Ah, revisionist history. They drafted a rookie QB to replace him with the first pick in the draft. Don't think that had anything to do with it? Make no mistake. They no longer wanted him as their starting QB.

I think it had to do with his shoulder injury and their fear that he wouldn't recover. His final 2 years in SD he threw 51 TDs to 22 INTs. He was good there.

Well, that's BS, but that's ok. They new exactly the extend of his shoulder. What about his first couple of years?

Brees was a very talented player in SD and had shown far more talent than Kirk has.

I get he is the QB for your favorite team so you think much higher of him. You need to. You need him to be that good. You want him to be that good. Bengals have the same kinds of fans who love Dalton.
