Absolutely. What good is being one and done every year? It's not. I'd risk that to get the next Mariota or Dak. If I get the next Akili, then I try again.

Thing is.. .Dak might be the next RG3. Apparently you have not actually seen how shitty the redskins were the last 25 years chasing the elite QB?? To me Dalton is in the Eli Manning range, a guy who is going to need a little help, and it will take another year or two to get to where you want to be.

He isn't as good as Eli. Not close.

Not yet. But go look back at how Giants fans felt about Eli when they extended him on his rookie deal. They were rather split. Hell there was a LOUD portion of the fanbase that thought the Giants had made a big mistake trading to get him in the first place. Now after two Super Bowl wins, Eli is minted. But NY seriously debated on if they should extend him after his rookie deal.

He won't be. He has been in the NFL for 6 years. He is what he is.

Maybe... but you could do alot worse than what he is.

And I would take six years of not going into the annual... what QB should we be hoping to draft game.

Exactly. Some people are way too content with having a QB who isnt awful.

But somebody did compare him to an all time great QB...

Well yea. But again if we are going to say he doesnt deserve to be paid like an "elite", then by definition we are comparing him to some of the all time greats right??

Never content to have a QB who isn't awful. Go for it all. Go big or go home. The Point in the NFL is to win the super bowl. Not to make the playoffs and lose every year.

Chasing the elite QB is what gets you to 25 years of futility. Ask the Browns how drafting a QB in the first round every other year has worked out.

Same as it has for the Bengals. No SB.

So you would rather be a three to five win team year in and year out than have the ability to build the rest of the team in the event that you luck up and find an elite Quarterback?? Because lets be real. Most of the Elite Quarterbacks in the NFL were found by dumb luck.

Side note, the Dalton pick was a bad throw on his part. Why challenge one of the best corners in the league?

This thread isnt about paying him and I havent mentioned paying him.

I think the compare term is causing some confusion. Theres compare in the how does player A stack up to player B which you can do about whoever you want. And then theres compare in the player A is just like player B. Obviously the 2nd meaning doesnt work for every pair of players. Kirk cousins is not likely to be an all time great QB so people saying thats who hes most similar too is aggressive.

I'd rather have a shot at the QB of my choice.

IM on the tablet, so I will reserve the right to give a realistic answer to this when I get back to the house as voice post sucks. But I dont think most are separating comparing his cost and his standing against other Quarterbacks in the league.

I am the OP of this thread, although its' intent was not to make comparisons based upon statistics some have done exactly that. Re-read the original thread starter and you'll find that the intent was to base your observations on STYLE of play and a comparative player who best matches your idea as to where Kirk's potential ultimately takes him. Call it the eye test if you must, it's a subjective exercise and not an objective one. As I stated in the opening, right now Kirk IS Stan Humphries in both style and mannerism, possibly a slightly better player IMO although we can never make statistical comparisons between 1988 and 2012 (their rookie seasons) because the game has changed so much. I'll also stick to my comparison of Kirk to Trent Green in terms of potential, Kirk does have the ability to someday become as poised and polished as Green was, there is no true way to comparatively measure Kirk's toughness vs that of TG'S either until Kirk gets cracked some, however, anyone with a clear view of both must admit that Green stands head and shoulders above Kirk in making things work when the play breaks down.

I noticed that on that Beckham pass tonight when Cousins stepped up then drifted left before hitting Beckham in stride for 42 yards.

Who is player A and player B. Why don't you stop talking in code. :noidea:

The Pro Bowl is the measuring stick? OK!
