I might get roasted for this, but I don't think a sick dog is reason enough to skip the All-Star game. I understand the emotional attachment of a dog (I grew up with a dog and watched one die after getting run over by a car), but it's still not quite the same as tending to a sick spouse or child. Just my opinion.

Ehhhh. I hear ya. The one thing I'd add is if the dog is really sick (dying) and has to be put down. Then I can see Torts really wanting to be there to help his kids through that. Kids are usually very attached to their pets.

Maybe I am just a huge optimist but I have a feeling this is going to be the best All Star weekend ever.

I was leaning toward agreeing with you then I saw it was just a coach. I don't think the coaches matter or anyone is there to see the coaches so I have no problem with it.

The dog that is ailing is a 10-year-old pit bull, Emma. She belongs to his son, Nick, who is a U.S. Army Ranger stationed abroad.

Actually if there was a chance the dog might pass over the weekend I'd do the same thing. Being in the room when Rocket was put down was absolutely terrible but I had to be there for him. I'd happily accept any punishment I was given and wouldn't fight it.

Now I'm sad.
