Great game in Utah. OKC escapes with a 2 point win.

Is there anyone in the entire NBA who is more clutch than Dion Waiters? I don't think so. I mean the guy is just so clutch it's not even funny. I am just amazed at how clutch he is. This just shows what an incredible owner Arison is. The way he just opened up the checkbook to get him and didn't even care what the cost would be. That's how you run an NBA franchise.

How'd you guys like my Wiggy impression? :noidea:

10 more paragraphs and you'd've been a dead ringer...:heh:

So Blake returns tomorrow night. Clips only had to play 3 games without both CP3 and Blake. Not bad at all.

Dubs and Cavs go down to defeat on the same night to subpar teams...

how often does THAT happen...?

Maybe LeBron will finally admit that the Cavs are playing like crap. Lost 5 out of 7.

Defense is non-existent right now. When LeBron gets a triple double, Kyrie drops 49, & Love goes for 22 & 19... and you trail the entire game from buzzer to buzzer... against the Davis-less Pelicans... there is clearly something wrong with your defense.

Cavs lose to the Pelicans without Anthony Davis. Warriors lose to the Heat. Yep. We're officially in the dog days of the NBA that happen every year before the ASG

LeBron spewed some hot fire last night....yikes.

I understand his frustration in a way though- right now, without JR, there really is no one that can make a play on the team.

Mo Williams did a brilliant job of it while Kyrie was out for the first couple months of last season, and then Delly kind of picked up the torch.

The fact is they need a point guard that can make a play whether that comes through trade, buy-out, or free agent signing.

I dont want them to sign a guy right now just to sign them though- i dont think that makes sense. There is a decent chance a buyout candidate comes around that can help- maybe like a Deron Williams etc.

Kyrie and Bron just didnt have enough to finish that off...i didnt see the first half- turned it on and was SHOCKED since i heard on the radio after work that Davis wasnt playing. Unbelievable.

Jones had the freaking game of his life.

Obviously you dont want to trust McRae in the playoffs--- but if you arent gonna give him an opportunity after your starting SG goes down- then why is he on the team?

He can shoot and make plays- especially against a team like the Pelicans.

isnt Dion just so frustrating?

the last 2 games he has played like an All-Star---- the talent is definitely there. There is no doubt about that. Dion Waiters has the ABILITY to be a helluva NBA player.

Yea very frustrating. Way too inconsistent for my liking. Until he finds that consistency, he will never get a long term contract.

As for whether or not they have their centerpiece right now, it's impossible to know. When you consider that there has been virtually no development of the young guys over the past 3 years, it's almost like the rookie year for all of them. This is the first time they have a coach that they want to play for and who is willing to actually teach them.

I know Russell wants to be the centerpiece/leader and he's saying the right things. But he also needs to do the right things and he needs to become more consistent.
I do think its too early to definitively KNOW either way- but those centerpiece guys you can usually see how they have tools that not many other guys in the league possess right off the bat.

Kyrie Irving was 19 and put up one of the greatest rookie seasons for a point guard in the modern NBA. You could see All-NBA potential there right off the bat. This is Embiid's first shot and first time playing in the league and right off the bat- you can see- this guy changes the equation on the floor. Even Porzingis his first year in NY- you can see- this guy can guard the room and shoot from the outside and make great plays and hes 7' 3".

Ingram or Russell maybe can develop into that- but they havent been those guys who excel right off the bat and catch your eye where you say- WOW- that is a ROY level big time talent and a cant-miss type of All Star level player.

he was dropping F-bombs like crazy.

Kyrie was disgusting in the 2nd half. 15/28 isnt amazing, but that does include half of those attempts were 3 pointers.....49 points on 28 shots is pretty damn good.

They really miss JR- and a point guard like a Mo or a Delly who can at the very least, run some pick and roll and get Thompson a slam once in a while like they both did a good job on last year at certain times.

and i get it LeBron- the team isnt built for the regular season- its built for the playoffs. Everyone knows that. Lue needs to not worry so much if they lose a couple extra games here and there and actually PLAY McRae....develop him a little- if he is not there and not going to get time after Smith gets hurt, while they need playmaking, why is he on the roster?--- hes on the roster because he can score and create shots - and he has shown some decent flashes here and there.

The Cavs issue was they never replaced Delly. Drafting Felder was nice but I saw nothing to suggest he'll be ready to play important minutes this season. Should have signed a backup PG in the offseason

waaaa waaaa why post that on this thread ;)

it is true though- his streak of DNP-CD's or garbage time minutes/ 4-5 minutes a game have been less frequent of late.

He looked solid last night. I can't even lie

i think they thought Mo was going to be back- he said he was going to be back- and he played really well replacing Irving last year---- he was going to retire- then wasnt going to retire - then was going to retire- and honestly- i think he switched back and forth again.

They had the opportunity to "stretch" him and find a new point guard in the offseason- but at that point they thought he was coming back.

That def. was part of the problem.
