Redskins to interview former Bills defensive coordinator Dennis Thurman

So this will be our first minority candidate to interview for the position. Reading the Tea leaves, this could be a sign that they have actually narrowed the field down but also realized, they need to comply with the Rooney rule to avoid a slap on the wrist later.

Then again he could be a serious candidate. Thurman did run some good defenses with the Jets. BUt the Bills defense left alot to be desired the past two seasons.

In other news, Vrabel is off the table. The Texans promoted him to their DC position.

Pass on Thurman. Rex was running that defense.

Agreed. But as i mentioned, this might just be a compliance interview.

You mean teams interview minority candidates just to appease the Rooney rule with no intent to hire them? I'm shocked I tell ya

IM thinking if we deal Kirk to the Niners, as long as we manage to not lose the #17 pick in the deal, we take a rookie QB at #2 and then continue with the assumed plan to draft defense the rest of the way out. Sure Taylor would fit into the mold of what some might want. But then again so would Watson or Kizer for that matter at a much lower price.

Now if you want to get real deep, we could deal Kirk, get the #2 over all, some how manage to get Taylor (who is still under contract by the way) then use the #2 AND #17 picks on defensive players. On the off chance the Browns continue to be the one organization more dysfunctional than the Skins have been historically, they take a QB at #1, and we get to draft Garrett at #2 and a DT/NT at #17 or maybe an ILB.

This whole thing looks to be about as smooth a ride as a roller coaster with frozen tracks and no brakes. :hope:

In all probability this maybe has something to do with the Rooney rule. However overlooking Thurman could be a mistake. Look Thurman is just as good as some of the other subpar candidates that have been interviewed. I like Thurman, Vrabel and Petine. All could atleast be okay DC's. Either one will do for me. Thurman and Petine have connections with the Jets Ravens and Bills.

Well a good friend on here has been trying to get me to consider life without Cousins. And seeing as how I think this off season has a serious chance of going mobile home in Kansas sideways, I figured I would look at what would be a possible good outcome if we did go twister. Im just really not to excited about any of the rookie QB options. And no Taylor is not high on my list of wants either. But I think we saw a few years back, the fan base would likely take to him, and he is the type of exciting QB I think the owner ultimately wants.

I agree. Too many posters have the wrong focus though on what the Skins should have for a Def Co.

Too many also seem to think being the Skins Def Co is a desirable job as well.

Excellent point @dad, question to you is....what's your thinking on why this organization STILL hires the staff before they hire the guy to lead them?
