This is why Oklahoma should have been in the playoffs

Absolutely NO to an 8 team playoff.

So the B1G could have gotten 4 shitty teams in the playoffs?

Do we really need a bunch of 2 loss teams in the playoffs?

Do you realize how easy making the playoff for an SEC East team would be even if they lost the SECCG?

4 teams is plenty and the regular season still means something. You start allowing 4 teams from the same conference and you guarantee schools will start gaming the system through scheduling. Look at Washington's OOC schedule and we all were bitching about some of the B1G conference SOS.

The answer is to do away with conference divisions and take the top 2 schools from each conference to play in the CCG then just take the top 4 conference winners. Nothing else makes sense.

Automatic bid to the P5 Conference Champions would guarantee this won't happen.
3 at large.
Rule #1 = No more than 2 teams from any Conference gets into the Playoffs.

Simple REally.

Not sure a like the division thing, because that encourages more subjectivity. I am not sure that is good for anybody

The funny thing is the Big 10 is a great example of why an expanded playoff is needed. All the experts said the Big 10 was the best.....Oops. Win your league and you are in. Opinion can not get that wrong. Save 3 spots for opinion. Now we have a system based mostly on achievement

Oklahoma still doesn't get in and nothing changes.

After watching the games so far (playing backseat committee here) the 4th team probably should have been FSU or USC (depending on what they do tomorrow). The Houston loss looks absolutely horrible now considering how that team finished.

Honestly the same could be said of the PSU loss to Pitt but to a much lesser degree as Pitt was a giant killer this year. James Connor should have won the Heisman.

It needs to be tried we have these "great conferences" with grossly imbalanced divisions with no mechanism in place to fix them except for hope and prayer and God doesn't seem to care as he has more important things to worry about.

Let's see how they do against Auburn......with the way this Bowl season has gone.....it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Tigers win or at the very least....make it a competitive game.

It is true. I just would hate to see conference selection committees. Seems like we trade 1 problem for another one. You know my thoughts on how to fix this, 18-20 team conferences. That fixes the real issue, unbalanced schedules

I stand by what I've always said.....there needs to be an 8 game playoff if not a 16 game playoff like a bracket in March Madness and how the other folks do it. There would be upsets and the excitement would be through the roof.

Here is the thing:

Right now the selection committee has zero accountability to the schools and the schools have zero input in the process. If "round 1 let's call it" gets taken to the conference level then each conference can choose how they wish and had better do it well or commissioners will get canned.

At least we create some kind of checks and balances in the system.

It would neuter the regular season.

Does that set up a system that is highly susceptible to influence? Do we here about Tabacco Road influence, L.A. Influence, Bama favoritism, etc

It would neuter the regular season.

1. I highly doubt that a system that allows 10-15% of the P5 would water down the regular season
2. Things like byes and home field can do a long way to ensuring the regular season remains important

1. Bama doesn't get favoritism on conference matters the SEC isn't set up that way.
2. The football powers of the ACC are not in NC and don't see this being an issue.
3. I haven't seen any bias in the PAC.

The Big 12 is all messed up so someone probably gets fired every year for making stupid decisions but maybe this fixes your problems as well and forces cooperation.
