My questions are:

Guards? Who will run the point and the 2 guard position. Will Battle be able to step right in similar to Ennis? During the tournament, Howard showed he was catching on. There's hope anyways...if Howard can stay off of JB's shit list.

Center? How will the Chukwu do? And will Coleman improve? We know Lydon is capable, but I like him much better on the wing.

Roberson and Lydon have already stated they are both returning. Both are very good and will take over at times. Roberson needs to stay aggressive and needs to pick up a mid range move. Lydon needs weight and just improve on last year.

Will Malachi Richardson return? Most are projecting him out of the first round of the draft so that would make a person believe he's returning.

Will Mathew Moyer be able to stay off of JB's freshman shit list and add to the 3 or 4 position.

Who will come off the bench?

I mentioned 8 players. But odds say not everyone of them will be able to step right in. The 2 scholarship reductions keep depth to a solid 6 ... maybe 7 man rotation...if they are lucky.

I didn't think SU was getting Thompson. But sure am happy. The 2016 class is much better than I thought possible.

2016 recruiting target Taurean Thompson picks Syracuse

He gives Syracuse three Top 100 recruits in this year's recruiting class. Thompson joins Tyus Battle, a 6-foot-6 guard from Edison, N.J., and Matthew Moyer, a 6-8 forward who played at South Kent (Conn.) Prep last year.

Interesting.....

Nebraska transfer Andrew White discusses his recent visit to Syracuse

Syracuse, N.Y. — Andrew White III, a graduate transfer from Nebraska, visited the Syracuse University campus this past weekend and came away impressed with the Orange basketball program's tradition and the Orange's prospects for the 2016-17 season.

White, a 6-foot-7 guard, averaged 16.6 points and 5.9 rebounds for Nebraska last season. White, a native of Richmond, Va., graduated in June and then decided to spend his last season of collegiate eligibility at another school.

He made his first visit to Syracuse last weekend.

"Had a really good visit with my parents at Syracuse,'' White said via text message. "The coaches seem to have a pretty good playing situation, along with a chance to win big.''

Coach JB speaking up.

Syracuse, N.Y. — Syracuse University basketball coach Jim Boeheim offered his first public comments on Taurean Thompson's arrival to campus and in the process may have hinted at what may be the inevitable departure of Tyler Lydon to the NBA after next season.

Syracuse issued a press release Thursday announcing Thompson had officially signed financial aid papers.

"He's big, he's long, he can shoot," Boeheim told SNY.tv at the Peach Jam in South Carolina where he's recruiting. "He's a good player, he's developing. I think he's come on late."

"He's really long, which helps in our system," Boeheim told SNY.tv "He can shoot it, we need shooting. We lost some shooting this year [with Malachi Richardson heading to the NBA]. I think he's got tremendous long-range potential"

Also.....

"We're probably in much better position heading into this year than we were last year and last year turned out pretty good, Boeheim said. "Pretty good," he said with a laugh. "I like our team. The big guy [Chukwu]'s pretty good. He can block shots. He can block a lot of shots."

"We might get somebody else," Boeheim said, possibly referring to Nebraska transfer Andrew White, who recently visited Syracuse.

The 2016/2017 team is starting to look really good.

Guards......

Gillon is quick and will probably run the point.

Battle is really good and will play serious minutes.

Getting White would seal the deal. He's the 3-point threat SU has been missing and will own the 2 spot.

Howard came on towards the end last year, but both those grad transfers are solid with tons of experience. But say SU doesn't get White....Battle, Gillon and Howard will make for a very good rotation.

But man......get White and SU Guards will be just pure hell on teams.

Forwards.....

Lydon has mad skills....just the complete package for a forward. Coach JB says he's gone this year.

Roberson was a beast towards the end of the season last year. Just an animal. He's a Senior and I expect him to go out in a blaze of glory. But I can't forget Coach JB going ape shit after a game last year saying the only reason he plays Roberson is because there's nobody else. JB was so pissed.

By league play, Moyer and Thompson will be coming off the bench only to give a break to Lydon and Roberson. And when someone is in foul trouble or in Coach JB's dog house. But they are SU future stars at the 4 and 5 spot.

Center......

Coach JB says Chukwu will be a force. I gotta believe he is going to see serious minutes if he's picked up the zone.

Coleman will be good for 20+ minutes a game and can play with abandonment. He's a big man and it's time he takes care of business. He's a Senior as well so he's gone after this season.

And with 4 deep at the forward spot....Lydon can always play the 5 spot and probably will if either Chukwu or Coleman are unavailable.

Andrew White no longer considering Michigan State, but Syracuse may have company

Syracuse, N.Y. — Andrew White, a graduate transfer from Nebraska, is no longer considering Michigan State.

Michigan State is one of just two schools that White has officially visited since announcing his decision to transfer from Nebraska.

Jon Rothstein of CBSsports.com said in a tweet late Saturday that White had crossed Michigan State off his list.

But the news that Michigan State is out might not necessarily mean that White is headed to Syracuse, the other school that he's visited.

Earlier Saturday, Spider Hoop Blog posted a picture on its Twitter page of White shooting in the University of Richmond gym. The blog said that White was visiting Richmond.

Richmond would make some sense as White is a native of Richmond, Va., however a source told syracuse.com that another Richmond school, Virginia Commonwealth, might also be a factor in White's recruitment.

I lean toward most of the comments in the article which are AWIII should stay at Nebraska if he's going to settle on VCU or Richmond.

We'll have to wait and see but I think he'll be lacing them up for one of JB's last years as HC.

This team is going to leave a dent in the acc and the dance. What's funny is the lack of props. Most have SU just cracking the top 25.

IMO.....This is a top 10 team and a serious contender for a spot as the last four teams standing come April.

The idea of having reliable and experienced outside shooters (love this year's transfers) to spread the floor is such a huge boost. As much as we all loved Cooney, his outside shot was far from reliable. So many new faces, both experienced transfers like Gillon, White, and Chukwu, along with promising freshman like Battle, Thompson and Moyer to add to emerging guys like Lydon and Roberson....very excited!

Rankings will come with time, I'm not too worried about the lack of props. That always seems to be the case for Syracuse anyway.

Syracuse freshman Matthew Moyer to redshirt upcoming season

Syracuse freshman Matthew Moyer will redshirt this season, according to a statement from the school.

Moyer, a 6-foot-8 freshman from Columbus, Ohio, came to Syracuse after spending last year at South Kent (Conn.) Prep.

He played nine minutes in Syracuse's 83-65 exhibition game win over Indiana (Pa.) University on Tuesday, Nov. 1. It was the lowest minute total for any Syracuse player that appeared in the game.

Moyer missed over a month when he suffered a toe injury in the summer. He spent a month in a walking boot. He was able to work out with the team when official practices began, but he wasn't cleared for full contact until a week into practices.

About 10 minutes ago ended a very disappointing season. Does anyone have any thoughts on who will leave this year early.

To begin the season, Lydon and Battle were expected to go pro. My guess is they both stay now. Thoughts?
