Yeah throw a couple fifteen yard plays. Why go for the low percentage bomb?

huh?

no PI on that int - just a good play by Detroit defender

Eagles lost this game because defense didn't show up in 1st half and the Matthews fumble

DPI defender pulled Agholor's left arm - just before they had to drift to the sideline to catch the ball. Clear as day from the endzone shot.

Way too fucking conservative and I blame this loss on the coaching staff. Both sides of the ball. Unacceptable. You don't win games that way. Coached with their tail between their legs. Disgusting

Disagreed. The coaching has been phenomenal this year. And today it was not so hot at points. Still....they were rumbling with the ball and eating clock. The defense was lights out in the second half. Based on all of that you run the ball on that play. It wasn't the fault of the coaches that fucking Ryan Matthews ran the end around with the ball on his inside arm.

The play call did not suck....the execution did.

And I'm not sure the int at the end was called or was just an option that the kid could just not refuse. Learning lessons ...which....surprise to some of you (for some reason)....is what this season is going to be about.

Still...a 3-1 team who just taught themselves they can come back from being smacked in the mouth. That they can make adjustments and fight through the penalty bug.

It's a loss in the standings. But....if it leads to more sharing in the backfield going forward than it's a win every other way.

Kendricks will be benched. He stinks!

Thing was - someone mentioned Bradham might have been benched as a punishment for the first half.

Good game, Eagles fans. Stafford is like a son to Schwartz. This one hurt him way more than it hurts you, I promise.

That play call was pure garbage on the Mathews fumble. Everybody knew that the run was on and the lions stacked everybody on it. Where was the playaction? I'm sick to my stomach the way we gave this game away. Ugh!!

Do not know why they called that final play.

Agholor certainly wouldn't have been my choice to go to. Why not try to go underneath, unless he was wide open? We need a speed receiver with skill;!!!!!!

Ryan Matthews...goat.

Well, n third down, I would have had Wentz roll out, or get the ball to Sproles, and I was saying that to myself before the play was called.

I honestly believe agolor was sent deep to open the underneath....and carson just could not resist. It wasn't the playcall. But it is a lesson that Carson just learned well. And from what we have seen of him so far it is a lesson he will take and learn from well.

We can argue the play calling on the fumble....but that was not the designed play.

Short sighted coaching. Barner and Smallwood were big in the last win. Not used today is a big mistake.

Coaching deserves quite a bit of blame - no Barner or Smallwood... why? Defense was asleep in the first half.

No excuse in the final quarter. Eagles excelled in prior games when using all their weapons and talent.

Really tough to win games when you get 14 penalties called against you vs. the other teams 3 penalties. Each one of those penalties either extended a Detroit drive or stalled an Eagles drive (except one TD drive). Over the course of the game that kills you. Blame the fumble from Mathews, Blame the Wentz int, but really the blame is on the questionable calls/no calls that pretty much handed this one to Detroit. The NFL has a major issue and it starts with biased officiating. We saw that first hand today and almost overcame it. That is why the TV rating are down. It makes the game look like it fixed.

Not completely...

The fumble recovery was iffy (probably OOB). The play before the deep ball to Tate, Graham was held by his facemask by the RT (a non-call). Note also the blatant hold that actually freed up Tate when he got off the line on the deep catch.

Yes, the Eagles should have been able to pull out that game - despite the refs being highly biased in favour of Detroit. But it is not all on them.

It is a loss that everyone learns from. It was a letdown game because the Eagles looked past the Lions. We see it all the time in the NFL.

Couple things I take out of the loss.

Wentz is a future NFL All Pro. I think he could someday be the best QB in the NFL. He is not there by a longshot yet but what what I have seen so far only cements how good he really is. I think he got greedy with the deep ball. I don't think Pederson called for that ball to be thrown there and that Agholor was supposed to clear out for an underneath route and Wentz made a rookie mistake

The coaching staff made some great adjustments at the half and as a whole the Eagles dominated the second half. However as a whole there were some major issues with penalties. They left too many plays on the field because of poor execution.

Nothing wrong with the play call on 3rd down. The Lions used all their timeouts and we may have been able to pin them deep if we did not get the first down. Mathews is to blame for that fumble. Everyone knows that ball security is the most important thing that late in the game.

The Eagles defense was again dominating. Sure they laid an egg in the first qtr but after that the really shut the Lions down. Overall still only giving up less than 250 yards.

This. All of this. Agreed.

It's still a loss and that sucks bad. But we move on to next week.

Defense got absolutely trashed in the first half, before playing like they usually do in the 2nd half. Penalties were absolutely critical in this loss. I definitely expected a better game plan and a cleaner game, especially coming off a bye week. I did appreciate the 2nd half adjustments, very nice to see. Would've been good to get Barner and Smallwood in the running game. I would've liked to see more misdirection screens as well, like past weeks. We could've used some more zone-read keepers for Wentz, the lanes are there -- I understand we need to protect our star QB, but we gotta let him use his legs a little more, especially since we don't have any stud receiving threats. All the penalties though, just killed us. That Brandon Books penalty towards the end was critical, and then of course the Matthews fumble at the end of the game sealed our fate.
