To me the real question is who is 1 and 2 SP in playoffs. No way Perez pitches 2nd. We need as many starts as possible out of Yu and Cole
Agree as that was my conclusion above as well.

Road to the World Series in the AL will go through the Texas Rangers
The Rangers will officially be the No. 1 seed in the postseason

Thanks to their win over the Rays on Friday night (TEX 3, TB 1), the Texas Rangershave clinched the best record in the American League in 2016. That means they will have home field advantage throughout the entire postseason, including the World Series thanks to the AL's win in the All-Star Game.

The Rangers' win also clarifies the AL postseason picture. We now know the Indiansand Red Sox will meet in the ALDS while Texas will play the winner of the AL Wild Card Game. At this point the Orioles, Blue Jays, Tigers, and Mariners are all still alive in the wild card race with two days left in the regular season.

Home field advantage figures to be pretty important to this Rangers team. Check out their home and road records this season:

At home: 53-26 (.671), +39 run differential
On the road: 42-39 (.519), -26 run differential

Not only do the stats show the Rangers are a better team at home, but the players would much rather start a series in their own ballpark as well. The travel is easier, the fans are behind them, they get to sleep in their own beds ... everything about it is better.

At 95-65, the 2016 Rangers currently have the best winning percentage in franchise history and the second most wins. They have two games remaining to catch and pass the pennant winning 2011 team, which went 96-66. The Rangers are an incredible 36-11 in one-run games this season, which includes eight walk-off wins.

Texas clinched their second straight AL West title a week ago. The AL Wild Card Game will be played Tuesday, October 4. The ALDS will begin Thursday, October 7.

All things equal I have to think that Cole is 1 and Yu is 2 But Yu is better talent and dominant right now. Cole has the big game experience and seems to thrive on the pressure which likely is the deciding factor But what if we meet the Jays? Interesting

To me, Cole Hamels is the unquestioned #1 for the playoffs. He has pitched in too many big playoff games to count and almost always has pitched very well. He's the perfect blend of talent and determination. Yu has the strikeout/dominance factor but he's not quite as battle-tested as Hamels, and there is definitely something to that. Colby is battle-tested and an absolute bulldog, but his lack of dominant stuff slots him behind Yu.

Most likely Hamels, Darvish, Lewis and then Perez id think. That said, I could see them flipping Colby and Perez so if there's a game 5 we wouldn't be showing them two leftys in a row. Might also depend on the team as well.

To me Yu is our best pitcher, but the difference between him and Cole is small enough that I can't find fault in anyone who thinks differently. We have 2 number ones in my opinion.
