I'm sure that he's probably begging to get out. I think it's pretty obvious to just about everyone that Fisher and the front office want nothing to do with Mannion for reasons that you listed.
How dare someone actually be good and maybe give you the chance to win.

Problem is they can't trade him because if he succeeds somewhere else it makes them look bad. Not to mention trading QB's hasn't worked out for the Rams.

Teams and coaches, particularly the Rams fall in love with college QB's that put up huge, inflated numbers against bad college defenses. Not even a handful of these QB's have even made a dent in the NFL, yet we have 3 of the top 30 on our current roster?

Obviously we need to start evaluating better and maybe draft QB's that take snaps from under center?

Those aren't all spread guys either.

Shops, ya I know, I just found it interesting that out of the top 27 college QB's that threw the ball a lot, Rivers is the only one that has had any success? And that we have not 1, not 2, but 3 of those guys on our roster, that's not a good track record?

Of course it isn't. However, Goff has the tools, just needs to learn to run an NFL offense.

I'm sure quite a few of the other guys on that list had the tools and just needed to learn the NFL game, the problem is, almost all of them have failed!

That's like saying he's a mechanic with all the tools but hasn't worked on cars or trucks very much, shopson.
Actually that analogy makes shops point from my perspective.

I work with a lot of excellent mechanics, with all the tools, and some of them have never worked on a car or truck.

Most of these Industrial Mechanics know industrial equipment inside and out and if I was in a positions to hire one as an automotive, tractor trailer or heavy equipment mechanic, I would have zero problem doing so.

That said, I would expect that there would be an adjustment period before they were the leading mechanic in the shop, and the guy I could count on to lead my team.

You're full of it Vita. Obviously you have never worked on a car with all the tools either. I have studied the human body and know it inside and out but does that make me a physician or a surgeon that deserves a license to practice medicine? Hardly. One too many trips to the stadium is affecting your brain dude!

I think some of the Rams fans here are Bulgerized.

Can we at least wait until Goff fails to call him a bust? Let the kid get his opportunity before saying he can't play.

You can lump him in with that list of spread busts if you want, but look at the schools. The last big QB draftee from Cal has done pretty well. Plus Goff didn't come to Cal to run the spread, the OC was changed after he enrolled. That offense has him behind in terms of adjusting to the NFL and the team is treating him with kid gloves.

RR, we may not always disagree but when we do you sure aren't shy about swinging below the belt.

But it's okay...:comeatmebro:

You're full of it Vita.
:trash:

Well, there's the first bit of trash I gotta take out....

Actually that analogy makes shops point from my perspective. I work with a lot of excellent mechanics, with all the tools
It is from my perspective and it was odd that you used this analogy, since in fact I do work with 'mechanics' at all levels of bussiness; National Resource Engineers, Regional Engineers, CI Engineers, Plant Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, Journeyman Engineers, Chief Engineers, Supervisory Engineers, Supervisory Mechanics, Resource Mechanics, Journeyman Mechanics, Lead Mechanics, Area Mechanics. I work with all of these types of 'mechanics' in my field at numerous facilities throughout the Greater Los Angeles Area. These organizations have all the tools necessary for these Mechanical Professionals to do their job. Trust me, they are working with multi-million dollar pieces of equipment in a lot of cases, so when I say they have all the tools, they do!
some of them have never worked on a car or truck.
Since my organization manufactures and distributes products for their organizations industrial equipment as well as for their personal autos and trucks, the subject of them doing work on their personal cars and trucks comes up quite often. I am always a bit surprised to hear how many of these talented young men, actually take their cars and trucks to the shop, rather than do the work themselves. I come to the understanding that their pay grade makes it an easy decision for them, not because they don't have the skills or even the tools, but because they don't have the experience. (Sound familiar?):rolleyes2:
Most of these Industrial Mechanics know industrial equipment inside and out and if I was in a positions to hire one as an automotive, tractor trailer or heavy equipment mechanic, I would have zero problem doing so.
Sure, there would be learning curve but lets face it, there are Six basic machines:
  • The Lever
  • Wheel and Axel
  • Pulley
  • Incline Plane
  • Wedge
  • Screw
With a deep understanding on these six basic machines and how they work together the highly talented mechanics can virtually work on any piece of machinery put in front of them, and once they gain the experience inherent to that specific equipment they are working with, the talented will be able to transition from one industry to the next much like like the highly talented CFB QB's to the NFL. :suds:

Obviously you have never worked on a car with all the tools either.
:nono: Wrong again RR, however I'm not sure what this has to do with anything. FWIW, my Uncle who is just a few years older than me, taught Auto class at an area HS, and I have done virtually all the mechanical restoration on my 67 Firebird where I had 'all the tools' :thumb:

One too many trips to the stadium is affecting your brain dude!
Do we really want to get into 'too many trips' affecting ones 'brain' RR. :shortbus: Them passengers of yours are doing a doozy on you!

:suds: Cheers bro, I sure hope you got a chuckle or two here..

We are 1-1 right now, in first place and Gurley is still in his 'preseason'.

I'm good with Goff sitting right now, I've been saying it for a long time and nothing has changed my mind to this point.

Our offense isn't clicking right now, Goff will fail if we put him in! In order to survive he has to have some sort of time in the pocket to scan the field! It would help if we had at least 1 wr that was worth a crap! Other than Gurley we have nothing!

Britt has been OK so far, but Austin continues to disappoint (and will until used differently IMO). The newer faces haven't had much of a chance to contribute yet, but hopefully Cooper's (and Spruce's) return from injury will give them a boost. They are both expected back at practice this week (along with EJ Gaines).

Shops, you are right, there have been some on here that have already called Goff a bust? I haven't gone that far, yes I would have preferred to stay at 15 and taken Lynch, yes since we traded up I would have preferred Wentz. Goff may turn out to be our guy, I sure hope so, but the odds are against him. I think he was hyped to be better than he is, plus the fact that Fisher is his head coach, Rams offense not very good, he has a lot going against him ?

Plus there are quite a few quality schools on that list, just saying, and a few quality QB's also, they just evidently didn't have "all" the tools

As of right now Goff may be the biggest bust of all time. Considering what we gave up to get him... six top picks!! and the fact that he can't even get on the field. Until he gets on the field and plays lights out he is a bust. It's not that difficult.
