I would like to see him get his act together because as of now our trades for pitching has not panned out this trade deadline. There is still hope for Jeffress.Alvarez showed up today.

One of the bright spots today. No ERs and 6K over 2.1innings. Pretty good.Alvarez showed up today.
Good company.
No more rehab starts. Get him here and have him on a short hook until he builds up.
A good point. We had a 2 run game then the wheels came off. I guess with the youngsters you have to choose your poison. Do you bring them in with a large lead and watch it melt? Dunno have to choose your poison. Why are we pitching Mendez and now LeClerc in a winnable game? This is a huge middle finger from Banister to his hitters. They work their way back from the huge hole Hamels created only to have Banister piss this game away with 2 minor leaguers.
I'm all for getting their feet wet and using them to rest up some of our other arms. But use them when you're getting blown out, when you're up by 6 or 7, or when you're playing Milwaukee or Tampa Bay.A good point. We had a 2 run game then the wheels came off. For the most part I agree. I was disappointed that after the offense got it back to a 2 run game that Banister just brought in nothing but minor league pitchers. I am sure that was a kick in the gut to the offense once the deficit grew again.I'm all for getting their feet wet and using them to rest up some of our other arms. - NOT when you're playing a divisional rival who could still theoretically catch you
- NOT when your offense has worked like hell to cut a massive deficit into 2 runs
- and NOT when the opposing team's pitching looks shaky enough to where you could still win the game if you can stop the bleeding on defense
I thought we had all the momentum when we cut it to 7-5. Then Mendez allowed 1, only to have Roogie respond with a HR to keep it at 2 runs. Momentum was still on our side. Then Mendez and LeClerc just completely fell apart like brand new rookies would be expected to do, and suddenly it was 14-6. Game over.
I get that options were limited, but I just thought it was a horrible time to expose those two pitchers like that. Basically forfeited the game. I felt bad for the hitters.

Well in theory I agree but not sure what better options were. Main problem is we got so little from Cole and we were still behind with slot of innings to go. We gave winning pieces in pen a day to rest and have 3 to go. We saw Alvarez look good and he might eventually become LHP specialist. Guys are still hitting just need SP not to give up runs early
The reality is the Rangers just need to avoid getting swept by either Seattle or Houston on this road trip. Even just one win in each city will basically lock the division up. Although with Perez going tomorrow I'm not expecting that win to come until Wednesday or Thursday!
Things are looking much worse for the Stros. Dallas Keuchel will miss "at least" his next 2 starts with shoulder problems.
i give Perez 3 innings before the wheels fall off but i hope i'm wrong
From Aug 5 thru Aug 31 he pitched six games winning 3 and losing 3. In the 3 he lost the offense scored a total of 5 runs.lot of if's

Here is another IF. IF they had scored more runs he might have won all six.
Try not to be so negative. You just saw Yu and Cole both have bad games and guess what. IF they play long enough it will happen again.

That's 5.6 per game and he did not get that much in three games total. 5.6 is not great but winnable with some kind of support. It really makes no difference. He still won 50% of games pitched in Aug. and that's not bad with no run support.like i said: i know but in those 3 losses he gave up 17ER
