Evan thinks we bring Bobby Wilson back, not sure why we would continue to go that route

What a disappointment. The Rays aren't going anywhere. If you want to be a contender, you need to beat the bottom feeders with some regularity. Especially in August / September. We need to beat the reds in both games to salvage this trip.

Because Chirinos is arb-eligible and Wilson is a better defensive catcher and would cost less than Chirinos. Not saying Wilson is great either, but Chirinos is as worthless as it gets if he's not hitting HRs. Wilson would be a cheap 2nd/3rd option at catcher who is familiar with all of our pitchers.

Hey Banny your in a pennant race, quit putting these scrubs in the lineup. Especially Chirinos. Lucroy had a day off Thursday and tomorrow, he should of been in the lineup to deal with Martin.

Yes even Ranger post game noting Teen and Cheerinos not on same page. Recipe for disaster was being pushed. I am thinking this does not happen again

I get that part, but we have moved on from Wilson multiple times and will again. If they were really interested in keeping him they should have in the first place as the B/U. Robinson has been terrible aside from the few HR's since he's been back. If the B/U is going to continue to get this much playing time Id rather see Nicholas called up and see if he can learn from Lucroy and see if he can be a catcher at the ML level, even as a backup. If he has no upside then not sure what they should do with him

I thought this too but we do need a 3rd MLB ready catcher albeit at AAA level

I am not on board with making Gomez the starting LF, but hopefully I am wrong.

Im not on board if he continues to be as bad as he has this year, but apparently everyone is hoping the change gets him going. Im not sure that happens this season for him though

I really wish they had Chirinos catch AJ and have Lucroy catch Perez today as Lucroy has done very well working with him.
Just wanted to repeat what I said before this game started. And with an off day there was no reason to rest Lucroy all 3 games but Banister had this all backwards.

I agree about Nicholas and I think they should swap him and Chirinos out immediately.

Chirinos effort seems to be as poor as his production lately

The real Willhelmsen showed up. He has given up 3 runs on 2 HRs in the 9th as Milwaukee as tied the game.

We need to clone Lucroy. The games Chirinos calls have been terrible.

Had to prep the kiddos for first day of school tomorrow. Well really not kiddos anymore :-)

No disappointed I missed this game. Good news is Brewers pull one out in the 9th.

Totally get where you're coming from with re-acquiring Bobby Wilson for the 473rd time. I agree that it's not a long-term solution. But what I'm guessing the thinking is: Chirinos is garbage and needs to go ASAP, particularly for his complete inability to call a game or handle a pitching staff. Nicholas is the obvious high upside play instead, but he might be too inexperienced with our pitchers, particularly if he's going to be replacing Lucroy every 4th game down the stretch. I think they see Bobby Wilson as someone who can come in and basically do the job Chirinos is supposed to be doing now (basically, just not totally screwing up handling the calls and the staff) once or twice a week. I'm no Bobby Wilson fan. AT ALL. But, nobody could be worse than Chirinos. I played baseball far too many years not to be able to spot a catcher with horrific fundamentals, and Chirinos breaks just about every known rule taught to little leaguers regarding setting up, displaying a target, and framing a pitch. And since Lucroy has come on board, I think his brilliance with calling a game and communicating with our pitchers has opened all of our eyes at just how awful Chirinos is there too. So Wilson represents a free upgrade there, however small, and he knows the team and fits in.

I was wondering a few weeks ago why they kept Chirinos over Wilson. I assumed it was because he is a part of the Latino contingent on this team. Many of them have big roles such as Andrus and odor. I didn't think it was his playing ability, but a chemistry thing.
