Tony Barnette has the lowest ERA of any Ranger reliever with at least 10 innings at 2.03

I have certainly misjudged him. This bullpen is unbelievable now.

I could be wrong, but I got a hunch Holland comes off this injury like he did in 2014. I think he'll be nails. Just a gut feeling. Could be gas.

So Alvarez and Harrell look like big losers so far.

Beltran and Lucroy look like a gold mine.

Oh the life of a major league GM.

Good point.

I would have rather have seen Lucroy rested the day before and let him work with Perez. He seems to be the most mentally fragile pitcher of our starters at this time, and maybe Luc could have kept him grounded for however long he's out there.
Guess the day off paid dividends today:) Not too shabby with two dingers and kept Hal from crapping the bed.

I hope so. Let's bookmark this prediction as a sign of optimism for Holland.

Wonder if he will get any of his velocity back.

They've both had 2 appearances, both have been bad for Alvarez, and Harrell has had a solid one and a very mediocre one, he walked a lot of guys but he managed to keep them off the board for the most part

A little early to judge, but for sure Harrell needs to throw more strikes, the walks are killing him

If anyone thought Harrell would come in and contend for the #3 or #4 spot in the rotation, they were fooling themselves. When the rest get healthy he will likely be the long man

Harrell gave us 6 innings of 3 run ball last time. He only went 4 this time, but limited the damage to 1 run. I think you need a dose of reality of what to expect from a #5 starter. JD built a nasty bullpen for this reason.

My hope is Lucas Harrell has two more starts for Texas: vs COL this Friday and the following Wednesday vs OAK. Both games are at home. Should be able to get one of those. After that with a couple off days the Rangers will likely skip his turn and he wouldn't be needed until Sat Aug 27 against Cleveland. I predict Holland or Colby returns that Saturday night. Crossing fingers.

What you expect of a #5 starter is someone who can eat innings, not require 80 pitches to get through 3 innings. The Astros are really struggling with the bat right now. Most other teams would have punished Harrell tonight. His ball-to-strike ratio is abysmal and unsustainable if he hopes to stick in the rotation.

Our bullpen weathered the storm tonight, but we need our #5 to pitch at least 5-6 innings the rest of the way so our pen isn't gassed by October.
