Exactly. They're not a top 30 team just because of a couple of decent years. With Dak gone, I definitely see them dropping off this year.

Last 6 years tied for 30th in win %.

Quite a few times, kind of like that title game in '03. The team LSU played is eluding me though.

That was a remarkable opponent. The opposing QB had a broken toe and bruised ribs and lead his team to the red zone with less than 3 mins left only to fall short. A true american hero story that is real because not all hero's win.

Not really. They are tied for 29th in win % the last 4 years. And that's with having on average the 18th hardest strength of schedule over those 4 years.
Actually tied for 31st, but still. He struck gold with Dak for 2 years and that's been about it. As I pointed out, he hasn't done anything against good teams, but fortunately for him, his OOC has been absolutely horrendous and he's only had to face Florida/UGA twice while getting Kentucky 7 times as a crossover game.

Look at his OOC as the coach there. He's not beating any of the top teams in the SEC, he's not beating anyone good OOC. Honestly, take a look. This is the overall game record for Miss St. with him there. This is nothing great:

I'm not counting App St and Georgia Southern because they've played 2 years at the FBS level. And suggesting they're both top 30 programs is fucking retarded anyway. So that puts them tied for 29th.

And I'm aware he isn't beating Alabama and LSU. Those are two top 10 programs. No shame in losing to those schools when you're at Mississippi State. Who bear in mind don't even have a .500 winning ℅ in their programs history.

The numbers suggest he's turned them into a top 30 program.

I remember that bitch, he made excuses because his team lost in the conference title by 28 then threw the game winning td to a defensive player.

Not sure why you would pick on Mississippi State. I think everyone would tell you that the program is about impossible to be really competitive at, what else do you want them to do?

Just remember while you're laughing at Miss. St, I thought this was rather hilarious. -----

They suggest that he's had a decent last few years. That doesn't make you a top program. If he can keep this momentum up and actually beat anyone worth a damn, it'll mean something. When you look at the winning % teams over the last 4 years, there are a lot of teams behind them that are still better programs, such as:

USC
Florida
North Carolina
Iowa
michigan
Washington
Penn State
Auburn
Texas
Tennessee

These are all better programs than Mississippi State. They've literally accomplished nothing and beaten nobody of merit. You mention their awesome record under Mullen? Let's look at the teams they've beaten:

UAB: 3-0
Alcorn State: 2-0
Jackson St: 2-0
Kentucky: 7-0
Louisiana Tech: 2-0
Mid Tennessee St: 2-0
Northwestern St: 1-0
South Alabama: 2-0
Southern Miss: 2-0
Tennessee-Martin: 2-0
Troy: 3-0
Vanderbilt: 2-0
Wake Forest: 1-0

These shit teams make up 31 of the 55 games Mullen has won at Miss St. That's not anything special.

Jesus, I'm saying they're a top 30 program the last 4 years, and honestly the last 6 years(he's only been there 7 years)

The last 6 years:

Win % - Tied for 30th(with an average SOS of 18.5)
Massey Average Rank - 26.16
Sagarin Average Rank - 24.3
Anderson & Hester Average Rank - 28.6

2 Top 15 AP finishes, 3 Top 30 AP finishes.

Like I was saying, the numbers suggest they are a top 30 program the last 6 years.

Then if you pay attention to how many wins are against sub .500 teams those wins are even less impressive.

This ^^^^ I think he has 10 wins over FCS teams then a bunch of wins vs. UAB and Troy. Mullen rarely defeats a quality, ranked team.

2015 9-4 (4-4) in conference play. Wins over Southern Miss, N'Western State, Troy, LA Tech, NC State, AU, UK, MIZZOU, Arkansas. ZERO wins against ranked teams

2014 10-3 (6-2) in conference play. Wins over Southern Miss, UAB, South Alabama, UT Martin (who?), LSU, AU, Aggy, UK, Arky, Vandy. Only 1 win against a ranked team (#22 AU).

2013 7-6 (3-5). Wins over Alcorn St., Bowling Green, Troy, UK, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Rice. ZERO wins against ranked teams.

2012 8-5 (4-4). Wins over Jackson St, AU, Troy, South Alabama, UK, Middle Tennessee, Tennessee, Arkansas. ZERO wins against ranked teams.

2011 7-6 (2-6). Wins over Memphis, LA Tech, UAB, UK, UT Martin, Ole Miss, Wake Forest. ZERO wins over ranked teams.

2010 9-4 (4-4). Wins over Memphis, UGA, Houston, Alcorn St, UF, UAB, UK, Ole Miss, Michigan. ZERO wins over ranked teams.

2009 5-7 (3-5). Wins over Jackson St, Vandy, Middle Tenn, UK, Ole Miss. ZERO wins over ranked teams.

Unless I'm reading this wrong or my info is incorrect, Mullen has one win over a ranked team since he's been at MSU. I've never understood the hype about this guy.

Based on nothing of any merit. You rip the B1G for SOS and how teams stack up OOC, but for some reason it doesn't apply to Miss. St. because they're in the SEC. Congrats, they've done a wonderful job of losing to all the good teams in the SEC and beating all the shitty ones along with beating up on a bunch of shitty OOC teams.

As I said, all of those teams that rank behind Miss St. in the winning % rankings are still better programs.

Bingo. And he's had plenty of opportunities to beat ranked teams and has only beaten one, and it was a team that finished the year at #22, so they were barely ranked.

They have played atrocious OOC games, they also happen to play in the toughest division in all of college football over the last 6 years and it's not particularly close. I even referenced their SOS the last 6 years, which was on average 18.5 over the last 6 years. And yes they've lost to all the great teams, and have beaten, for the most part all the shitty ones. Doesn't that equate to being about the 30th best program?

And the bolded part is nothing but opinion that can't be backed up by facts, so I'm calling bull shit. Winning % isn't the end all be all, but Iowa hasn't been a better program the last 6 years.

So they've been able to do what some average team could do. Lose to all the good teams, beat up on the shitty ones, and then feast on a bullshit OOC schedule. That is not a top 30 program, and it's certainly not amazing.

Again, last 6 years:

Win % tied for 30th with an average SOS of 18.5
Massey Average Rank - 26.16
Sagarin Average Rank - 24.3
Anderson & Hester Average Rank - 28.6

2 Top 15 AP finishes, 3 Top 30 AP finishes.

And I didn't say Mississippi State was amazing. I'm saying Mullen has done amazing. He took over a program that won 35% of it's game the previous 5 years. To put that into context it would be like taking over Indiana and turning them into what Mississippi State has been the last 6 years.

We're going to use the last 7 years, since that's how long he's been there.

39th in winning %
1 win over a ranked team
And there are more shit teams I forgot to add in addition to the earlier list:
Rice: 1-0
Arkansas: 4 wins (2 of them when Arkansas lost 8 and 9 games, respectively)
Bowling Green: 1-0

He has accomplished next to nothing, but it looks nice because he beats up bottom barrel teams left and right. Wow, I'm so impressed.
