I saw a fair amount of summer league, and my take is that Simmons is exactly as advertised: elite passer with no shot who will be able to play immediately in the NBA and be productive but who may never be great unless he develops a jumper. He showed signs in one game of being able to do it, hit a couple straight, but also showed stretches in other games where he looked passive as hell with the rock.

I was disappointed that Christian Wood signed with the Bobcats because he had clearly looked like the best player for the Sixers in summer league. But, when you have as much money and draft picks committed to bigs as Philly, you can kind of see why the team and Wood would part ways. He will become an NBA rotation guy this year though.

We should really look into trading for this Tyus Jones kid from the Timberwolves. I understand it was just the Summer League, but this PG from Duke looked damn good game in and game out this summer. Huge improvement from last season ... the Wolves are fairly stacked at the Guard position.

Barring a setback, Joel Embiid (foot) should be good to go when the 2016-17 season begins, according to 76ers' Insider Derek Bodner.

The No. 3 overall pick of the 2014 NBA Draft has yet to make his NBA debut, and Philly did not let him take the court during summer league. He has, however, progressed to going through full contact 5-on-5 work without experiencing any setbacks and he is on the right track to be ready for the upcoming season. Hopefully we can see him get his feet wet during the preseason.

His minutes are likely to be restricted and he probably will not play in the 2nd game of a back to back.
All that being said, if he can stay healthy, I think we're going to be very happy.

If we can handle having two big men on the floor Okafor/Embiid, Okafor/Noel, Embiid/Noel then there are going to be plenty of minutes to go around even including Simmons and Saric at the 4.

Figure 96 minutes at the 4 and 5:
30 Okafor
20 Noel
20 Embiid
10 Simmons
10 Saric
6 other

That being said, I don't think they should make a trade before they can determine just how healthy Embiid is.
Between Okafor and Noel, they both might thrive with the talent around them, so it's actually a nice problem to have. Whichever team offers the most for either one is what's going to swing a trade.

We still can grab two top-10 picks in the deep 2017 draft.

How about this?

It really depends on the matchups and whether or not Saric/Simmons can defend the 1, 2, or 3.
Also may want to give Richaun Holmes some minutes. Grant could also play the 4. Maybe Cov.
Carl Landry, eh, not so much, but they want to try and keep everyone happy.

I don't think they all need to be lumped together, I don't envision Embiid, Noel, Okafor playing much at the 4. Out of the three, Embiid probably works best playing with one of the other two. At the 4 it all depends on how much time they play Saric and Simmons at the 3. Hopefully Brett can figure it out.

I don't think Saric can play the 3 ... he's athletic enough to play SF overseas, but not at the NBA level. Saric is a stretch 4 with good rebounding ability, but I don't think he can consistently take NBA 3's off the dribble. Simmons may need to play more 2 or 3 than 4 in his rookie year.

At some point, I'd like to see Simmons, Covington, Saric, Okafor, and either Noel/Embiid on the court at the same time.

If healthy (permanently), Embiid can become the best player in the league.

Come on, dude has been here for the entire process and one of the few that can make a 3 pointer, though he does disappear a lot.

Maybe we just win a few more games, and wind up with a top 3 pick again.
